It has been inspiring seeing all our volunteers across the country step up and help. We're a big tent with a simple message. Help us support a growing movement!
Our strategy is grassroots-first. We focused on building our brand and inspiring local leaders to create local groups. Now our 3-person team can support hundreds of constituent meetings with lawmakers per year.

Our highest and most urgent national priority should be AI safeguards. The risks of AI weapons, pathogens, mass unemployment, surveillance, and even extinction must not continue to be largely ignored.
TLDR: to discredit AI safety advocates, the OpenAI/a16z Super Pac made sockpuppet accounts - PRETENDING TO BE AI SAFETY ADVOCATES - that call for violence (!)
Yes, a false flag operation.
Journalists should be ALL over this.
AND - even more fucked up - after Sam Altman was attacked, the Super Pac president blamed AI safety advocates for THEIR rhetoric... while HE was using sockpuppet accounts using this rhetoric
Deeply evil, cartoon villain shit
Day 4 of June 2026 blogpost-a-day!
Today I break down the two kinds of sci-fi futures for humanity, and why we want the kind that doesn’t lose touch with actual humans.
To be very clear - a Super PAC network supported by a $25 million donation from OpenAI President Greg Brockman and $50 million from a16z, just admitted to paying for “parody meme accounts” mocking people with Down syndrome, calling for violence, and general 4chan style trolling
The OpenAI-Andreessen-Palantir SuperPAC admits that it was “part of their strategy” to create and run a false flag “doomer” X account that posted calls to violence.
@raspberryman@mentalgeorge I agree with the OP on the goal, I just don’t know what that special something would be. And AI is certainly not being developed in a way that would preserve something special for us.
Welp, there it is:
Leading The Future admits to paying a vendor to run anonymous sockpuppet accounts posting stuff like this. Everyone can now rest easy knowing that this wasn't *core* to their strategy.
(By the way, it took us a fair bit of digging to link to BAAI... afaik nobody else had put the dots together until we dug into it. Plus, it clearly was not seen as satire to the people in most of their comments... just go look at them! The accounts are still up.)
Ghastly stuff. Truly.
I'm appalled that Leading the Future -- the OpenAI-Andreessen-Palantir SuperPAC -- created a fake false flag "doomer" account that posted calls to violence.

It quickly becomes impossible for everyone to get what they want AND to be in relation with real, stateful others.
A few months ago, I found an anonymous sockpuppet account linked to the OpenAI/a16z super PAC. Now, @TaylorLorenz and I have uncovered two more — and they're even more brazen than the first.

Wow - the OpenAI-Andreessen-Palantir SuperPAC created a fake account claiming to be an anti-AI doomer saying various unhinged things.
This crazy "false flag" behavior is only undermined by incompetence - they were rarely able to get more a few hundred views on each fake tweet.
I find it unbelievable that, less than two weeks before blaming the violence against Sam Altman on doomer rhetoric, @NathanLeamerDC's Build American AI appears to have been supporting the account @jonathandoomer to make posts like this one in response to warnings about AI:
When a bunch of pro-AI industry commentators (notably Dean Ball, who wasted no time trying to settle a personal score) immediately attempted to blame PauseAI for the attack against Sam Altman’s gate, it kinda felt like they had talked about how to use opportunities like that to slime their opposition ahead of time.
Now we have this evidence of how much they would like it to be the case that grassroots advocacy is inciting violence— perhaps enough to pay for it?
Day 2 of June 2026 blogpost-a-day!
Far from bypassing or solving the alignment problem, The Merge requires alignment to already be solved to get off the ground.
