We'd love to have more liver transplant members in the NI team, to experience all the Games have to offer by way of friendship, that competitive side we all have, meeting transplantees from around the world, and the benefits of good health and exercise after your transplant.
Are you post transplant? Do you play petanque, 10-pin bowls, golf, darts, badminton, squash, table tennis, football, volleyball, tennis, or are you an archer, a swimmer or a track and field athlete?
If so, and you'd like to participate in the World Transplant Games as part of the @TEAM_TSNI team in August next year in Dresden, Germany, then please let us know as quickly as possible at [email protected]
The presentations were made by both medical professionals and committee members of LISN as well as our very own Dr Sharon Millen who, along with Dr Karol Donnelly, launched their booklet titled "Living with Liver Disease and as a Transplant Patient - Managing Your Mental Health"
Dr Sharon Millen and Arthur Goan, from the RVH Liver Support Group, joined with their colleagues in LISN, (Liver Ireland Support Network) in Dublin on Saturday October 19th, where LISN launched their Autumn Joint Educational Meeting.
The meeting was also joined by the medical team from the Irish Liver Foundation. Attendees were given updates on end stage/chronic liver disease, auto-immune liver diseases as well as updates on LISN evolvement.
The Group were delighted to attend the RVH Annual Oration on 4/10/24, delivered by Dr. Neil McDougall. Entitled "Eliminating a Disease", it focussed on progress being made in eliminating Hepatitis C by 2030.
It was enjoyed by many past, present and indeed future consultants.
What a great PINK turnout today at the Café at Hillsborough Castle for our September coffee morning to celebrate Organ Donation Week. A lovely location any time.

Celebrating Sr. Carol Harper's milestone anniversary this week of 40 yrs of nursing & 35 yrs of that in the Liver Unit in the RVH.
Congratulations Carol, and many thanks for all your years of care, from all of your patients, friends and colleagues in the Liver Support Group.
Please have that discussion with your family and friends and make your wishes clear to them. While legally, they have the ultimate right to make a final decision on donating your organs, please make your feelings on organ donation crystal clear, and urge them to respect that.
Our friends at #ShareYourWishes have initiated a post which is generating considerable discussion. In 2023/24, 140 individuals, who had indicated their desire to be an organ donor after their passing, had their decisions overturned by their families.
