This was the book I mentioned in January that wasn’t on my list because it wasn’t released yet. But Rhodri Lloyd and Jon Oliver are some of my favorite sport scientists in LTAD/Pediatric athletic development. Preordered it immediately and can’t wait to start this one.
@pe_enthusiast We build our curriculum around movement. Can share if you’d like to see. I’d also talk to @L_A_E_06 about embedding the athletics skills model into it as well
In a Dept meeting we discussed the threads of the curriculum so we wanted something more visual..after a few bouts with the old ChatGPT..got it a few different ways
Solve the problem. Love that. Movement problems to be solved utilising movement competence, knowledge& understanding of the physical domain, versatile movers.
Traditional PE asks:
🗣“Can you perform the skill?”
Games-based learning asks:
🗣“Can you solve the problem?”
Our curriculum shifts:
Technique → Thinking
Instruction → Exploration
Teacher control → Student agency

We’re moving towards a more holistic, inclusive model of Physical Education. 💛One of the clearest challenges highlighted in @Sport_England’s work is the intersection of girls and low socio-economic disadvantage, where young people are more likely to disengage from movement.
That challenge can’t be solved by activity choice alone.
In this blog, I explore how Trauma-Informed PE and Physical Literacy converge, and how Feel • Connect • Move • Think is helping schools support children who are struggling to engage, regulate or belong, particularly within this cohort.
