Islam says rich or poor, obedience in what is right is an act of worship.

@muminattaofeek Yes you have spoken well but you present marriage as an "Allah-conscious partnership" while ignoring that Allah also gave the husband qiwāmah (leadership) and obligated the wife to obey him in what is good.

Respect is not based only on love or finances; it is an act of worship.

You know the way you lived with your parents when you were young up until now where your parents ran the show without you ever being utterly disrespectful.

The sahabiyyahs used to refer to their husbands as "Ya Sayyid" which means "Oh Master"

But I don't entirely agree because our mother Khadijah (may ALLAAH be pleased with her) was submissive to the noble Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) even though she was richer than Him (Peace be Upon Him) many times over.
