I will say the ref will be supported in this decision..because of law. And all associations will always support publically if possible.

@_nickmatsos @KierDoyle And this isn’t necessarily a clear error because it could be supported by law. It’s just not something common sense or spirit of the game wants in those situations. So, technically correct call… practically incorrect.

@_nickmatsos @KierDoyle It’s funny… does the game need this to be called a foul? There is some pulling but equal to stuff that isn’t punished. The fact that he made the call handcuffed his sanction decision. VAR unfortunately cannot ref the game for us, it is only there to overturn clear errors.

@_nickmatsos @KierDoyle If the ref deems this a foul, based on DOGSO rules he has to give a red… there is no attempt at the ball. Now if this is actually enough for a foul or not that’s a whole different convo.
