According to the Cyberpunk 2077 manga, Rebecca didn't want to be a merc. It was something imposed on her.

This makes her death look like a suicide.

Seeing all her friends die, cornered by Adam Smasher, no way out from a life she hated.

I can see her go: "I'm done with this."

In Cyberpunk AI becomes so powerful the Internet has to be ran on local networks cause the rogue AI’s mutated into dangerous entities so humanity has to trap them within The Blackwall.

Which is a AI barrier that protects our world from the old network. I guarantee you this will be the plot of the next game.
