He's not bothered about child sexual exploitation on Pornhub, OnlyFans, Roblox, or any of the countless platforms where children are groomed, abused, and exploited. He's not demanding tougher sentences for predators. He's not demanding the closure of sites that profit from sexual content children can access. He wasn't particularly interested when the BBC spent decades covering for prolific celebrity nonces or when LBC parade around government psyop whore Bonnie Blue.
What he cares about is @X.
Because X is where people get news, compare notes, share evidence, and discover that what is happening in one town is happening in another. From Penzance to Portugal - we are one.
The pretence is that this is about "misinformation" and "encitement", but the actual target is the means by which ordinary people communicate with each other.
They've tried destroying our pubs and our churches and communities - where we congregate and talk and unite. But we found somewhere else, so that has to be destroyed too.
What they forget is that the British were organising long before mobile phones, the internet, social media, television, radio, or newspapers.
For a thousand years we organised rebellions, uprisings, protests, petitions, and resistance movements armed with little more than word of mouth, churchyards, market squares, pubs, and messengers on horseback.
The Iceni managed it.
The Cornish managed it.
The Levellers managed it.
The Chartists managed it.
The people who fought the Romans, the Vikings, the Normans, and every other power that tried to impose itself upon them managed it.
If people are angry enough, they will find each other.
They always have.
Football remains the beautiful game but the men who run it are managing to severely damage its reputation and it looks like they will be pressing the accelerator throughout this World Cup. It is incredibly sad.
A rant. There’s a misunderstanding about just how short the government’s Defence Investment Plan will fall, when we do finally see it. Sadly, it’s so much worse than the general conception.
It’s not just the gap between the £28billon that the chiefs asked for and the £13.5bn Rachel Reeves is offering. The chiefs’ £28bn was actually just the minimum they think defence needs to get through the next four years. To pay for the full transformation that the SDR prescribes, and insists is vital, I’m told internal MoD estimates put the real sum needed at 4.5 or 5% of GDP (which btw is also NATO’s new annual spending target). The UK currently only spends 2.3% of its GDP on defence, rising to 2.5% next April.
In cash terms, that means defence actually needs an extra £60bn, and not just over 4 years but EVERY year. That’s the true scale of the task, and what our allies like Germany and Poland are now well on their way towards. So the Treasury/No10’s current sticking plaster offer is not just woefully thin, it doesn’t even touch the sides.
To defend Britain properly in the frightening modern world that we now live, the next Prime Minister (Burnham, Badenoch or Farage) is going to have to start all over again. And unlike the current government, they will have to have this debate publicly and honestly.
While we still wait on Labour government defence spending plans (the Defence Investment Plan — DIP) to finance last year’s Strategic Defence Review (SDR), let’s keep in mind these salient points when it eventually appears:
1. The current £28 billion shortfall in defence spending over the next four years has nothing to do with implementing the SDR. The £28 billion is simply what’s needed to meet current defence commitments/plans.
2. So funding for SDR would have to be on top of the £28 billion — which would mean tens of billions more over the next five or so years into the early 2030s.
3. The extra money now being floated as what the government is likely to announce — £13.5 billion over four years — wouldn’t even cover half the shortfall never mind produce a penny for the SDR. It’s a pittance compared with what’s required.
4. We currently spend 2.4% GDP on defence (and even that is boosted by some statistical sleights of hand). The only current concrete plan is to go to 2.5/6% in the next financial year. Now the Treasury is saying it doesn’t even want to set 3% as a target before 2034/35 — by which time if Reeves-Starmer-Treasury have their way we will be a minor player in military matters.
5 This government is dishonest the best of times. I fear we’re about to discover that when it comes to the defence of the realm — its primary duty as a government — it is a serial liar.
Not that @Keir_Starmer ever answers a question at PMQs, wouldn't it be good if he could actually speak without reading verbatim what one of his lackeys has written for him. No idea what is going on or what he is doing!
@tnewtondunn Simply because they are Defence is so badly underfunded, under equipped, under manned etc. the Govt can't afford to have it remain titled as a Brigade with all the expectations attached!
There is white smoke emerging from our selectors meeting to determine our squad to play in Poland in July. That either means they have finalised the fourteen personnel or Harry Brook and Ben Duckett have just popped around.
Grateful to @BBCr4today for the advance notice to stop listening at 0820 this morning when they were propping up @BowenBBC who no longer tells us anything we don't already know!
Can anyone recall the last time that @BowenBBC told us something we didn't already know on @BBCNews or @BBCr4today (where the old guard are propping him up). Or the last time he didn't spend the majority of his report criticising US & Israel but not Iran, Hezbolah or Hamas?
Don’t feel like this World Cup has captured the imagination of anyone in this country yet, anyone else feel that way 🤷🏻♂️maybe it changes after the tournament gets underway

How can a Secretary of State for Justice state unequivocally that he does not believe that people should be treated equally under the Law in a democracy and keep his job?
Or remain as a barrister?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a politician’s hypocrisy, pomposity and sheer disingenuousness exposed so starkly on TV.
Trevor Phillips gives a masterclass in exposing all three traits in the floundering Lammy.
A must watch.
Lammy is so two tier himself he can’t see the step.
Took the knee for an American criminal.
Won’t take the knee for an innocent Brit.
It’s clear where his priorities are.
Same for the rest of this government. Their bias blinds them to the stark reality.
Breaking🇬🇧⚡️🇺🇸: "You expressed 'righteous anger' over George Floyd's death, but attack JD Vance and Nigel Farage for their feelings of 'rage' and 'righteous anger' over the murder of Henry Nowak, can you see the hypocrisy here?".
Watch Labour Minister David 'Mastermind' Lammy be absolutely schooled for his twisted logic and two tiered ethos.
Lammy attempts to lecture us on our approach to the language used over the death of a black man to that of a white teenager, whilst displaying his racist and hypocritical self.
What a vile creature Lammy truly is.
