@legaltweetz Blew my mind what assholes the Romans were. It was considered "good" to rape your neighbors children. And then I doubted that, and I learned about bacha bazi...
A foreign-born federal judge, Sparkle Sooknanan (yes, this is her real name), BLOCKED the Trump Administration from verifying who is eligible to vote in American elections. Months before the midterms.
The ruling is questionable. But the real problem runs far deeper than one decision and one judge. Sparkle is just the latest example. Ilhan Omar. Shri Thanedar. Pramila Jayapal. Foreign-born officials in positions of power, proving time and again their loyalty is not to America.
We introduced legislation to close this gap for GOOD. If you hold power in the American government, your loyalty belongs to America.

My brother has Down syndrome. He is thirty four and he bags groceries at the same store he has worked at for sixteen years. He knows every regular by name. Last year a new manager transferred in and started cutting his hours. Said he was too slow. Said customers wanted efficiency. My brother came home confused and quiet. He kept asking what he did wrong. He did nothing wrong and telling him that did not fix the hurt in his face. Then something happened I still cannot talk about without crying.A regular customer noticed he was gone from his usual shift. She asked. Then she asked again. Then she started a petition at the customer service desk without telling anyone. Within two weeks it had over nine hundred signatures. People wrote notes in the margins. He remembers my kids names. He carried my groceries when I broke my arm. He is the reason I shop here. A man in his eighties wrote that my brother was the only person who talked to him some weeks. The petition landed on the regionaldirector’s desk. The manager was reassigned. My brother got his hours back plus a raise and a vest that says customer experience specialist. He wears it like a uniform of honor. The woman who started the petition still shops there every Tuesday. My brother saves her a cart with the good wheels. She told me once that kindness is just paying attention out loud. I think about that constantly. He was never too slow. The world was just moving too fast to see him.
The US Navy operates a 50,000 acre forest in Indiana whose entire job is keeping one wooden ship from 1797 afloat.
The ship is USS Constitution, still a commissioned warship with an active-duty crew. Cannonballs bounced off her in 1812 because the hull sandwiches a wall of live oak ribs between two layers of white oak planking, nearly 2 feet of solid wood so dense it barely floats. British 18-pounders hit it and dropped into the sea. A sailor yelled "her sides are made of iron" and the nickname stuck.
Here's the problem with owning a 229-year-old wooden ship: you can't buy the parts. Hull planks run up to 40 feet long and 7 inches thick, cut from single white oak trunks. A white oak takes over a century to grow that big. No lumberyard on earth stocks it.
So the Navy grows its own. Constitution Grove at Naval Support Activity Crane holds trees over 100 years old, reserved exclusively for this ship. Foresters there are managing oaks today that will become hull planking in the 2100s. The maintenance plan literally runs on tree time.
Every 20 years or so she enters dry dock and shipwrights swap out rotted timber. After two centuries of this, estimates put original 1797 wood at maybe 10 to 15 percent of the ship. The Navy keeps replacing her plank by plank because Congress mandated her preservation and because she's the only active US warship that has sunk an enemy vessel.
Every other asset in the Navy has a decommission date. This one has a tree farm.
My husband and I are honored and thrilled to participate in the Invest America program and gift a share of our SpaceX stock to a Trump Account for each of more than two million children across our great nation.
Every American child under 18 can benefit from having a Trump Account, but our gift specifically goes to the Accounts of children (ages 11-17) that live in areas with lower average household incomes with a bit more emphasis for those that live near our central Texas home.
We have been fortunate in our careers and hope this gift encourages the next generation to continue the journey of enabling humanity to live and fly amongst the stars.
A huge thanks to all that worked to bring this incredible program to life.
@HealthRanger I tell people: "I could talk to you for an hour, and you wouldn't believe me, or I could take you somewhere 5 minutes away, and you'd spend the whole ride back asking me questions."
When I got mine, it still weirded me out when I was leaving the Tesla service center.
@Hitchslap1@sierracatalina Missed the space, but here's my take:
If you ask 100 people if the sun will come up tomorrow, and 99 say "Of course", and the 100th says "I live in OR, I have to check the weather", the 100th is right, and the 99 are wrong.
40% of their sovereign wealth fund is invested in US equities. And across all their other investments, US investments have outperformed the rest by a wide margin.
It wouldn't be wrong to say that most of their gains have been because of US equity investments.
Btw, the most popular car they drive is a US made car (Tesla).
