Wait, this is because low engagement? Maybe he just has some IRL stuff to deal with? It's hard to believe he would just up and leave because of engagement. We all get low engagement on some or even a lot of our stuff.

But if he was trying to make the AI thing more than just a hobby I can see how it can get draining and upsetting. It does incur costs, both in time and in money. Maybe he just needs a bit of time. Hopefully he sees that there are still people waiting for him to return.

I tried some local stuff like ace 1.5 and tested a few other models but for now suno seems to be the best. It does have some issues but it's the best you can get. The free version does not give you access to their latest model but you can try it for free with 50 daily credits with their 4.5 model (maybe even 5.0 model, I don't know how things are now since I am on the Pro Plan)

You will need to look into how to prompt for suno. There are things you can do in order to improve a song like adding "..." for pauses or CAPS for emphasis in the lyrics section, etc. It doesn't always work unfortunately but it does help.

You will need to experiment with styles in the style section to try and make it sound less generic. Depending on your luck and how much of a perfectionist you are, a song that suits your taste can take anywhere between 10 tries to 100-200. You can do so minimal editing of the songs you make with suno Pro but for studio (for better editing) you would need their most expensive plan which I have not tried.

It depends on what you want to do but generally I would treat this as a somewhat pricy hobby for anything of quality. Even setting aside image generation which for the most part can even be done locally (unless you need to constantly show multiple people with very distinct characteristics) the price for image to video can get expensive. It can get you anywhere between 30 to 100 dollars per month. Hopefully with more competition and local models getting better things will improve in the pricing department but that remains to be seen.

As for the time investment, 40 hrs is on the low end. Many people put a lot more into their projects. So I only recommend doing this if you think it would be something you really enjoy doing. For me, it's the equivalent of playing video games. It's something I enjoy doing despite setbacks or frustrations. I do need to mind my budget and try not to overspend (like buying more video gen credits) but that's why I am constantly looking into local generation.

Loved the first 2. Hopefully the third one also delivers. It should no be hard. More of the same with a few updated things. Don't try to reinvent the wheel or change something that works. From the looks of it, this should be the case but I guess we will have to wait and see.
