#PeoplesHistory | 🇦🇷Today in 1977, a group of just over a dozen mothers marched around the Plaza de Mayo in front of the Casa Rosada presidential palace in Buenos Aires to demand answers about their children, forcibly disappeared by Argentina’s US-backed military dictatorship. They returned to Plaza de Mayo every Thursday, with more and more family members, and read the names out of their missing relatives.
They became the legendary human rights movement Madres de la Plaza de Mayo. Their iconic white scarves became a global symbol of resistance against state terror and in the struggle for truth, justice, and memory.
