😁 What a wonderful place to spend a morning. 😁
On Saturday GCV removed more than 100 tree guards from young trees in Jubilee Wood, Le Gouffre.
This was a new experience for many people who had never visited this lovely @NTGuernsey site before.

🌞 Bit of a hot one on Wednesday morning! 🌞
Lots of new Sour Fig shoots removed near Burton Battery but lots more to do so we'll be back, hopefully it'll be a bit cooler when we return 🤞

Time for a spot of digging on Port Soif Common. Wild Leek is becoming dominant in quite a few areas of the Common & it produces many new bulbs which spread & create even more plants. To allow the smaller, native plants to grow the large patches of Wild Leek is being removed.😁
GCV will be meeting at 10am on Wednesday 20th May in Port Soif car park (near the kiosk). We will be digging up Wild Leek to allow the smaller, delicate wildflowers to grow.

One final push on Saturday morning to get some more invasive Stinking Onions out of the ground in Bluebell Wood before they die back for another year.
Great to see some big, healthy looking Bluebell seed pods developing. 💙

Would you like to be active outdoors and connect with nature? GCV is a great way to do this.
Check out our website for the work parties coming up over the next couple of months. New volunteers are always welcome. 😁

🌧🌧 90% chance of heavy rain at 11am on Wednesday was correct! 🤣
Fort Le Marchant headland is looking great and we only managed to find a few small patches of invasive Sour Fig. Then it rained.......💧💧💧

GCV will be meeting at Fort Le Marchant Headland at 10am on Wednesday 13th May. We will be removing some new shoots of invasive Sour Fig as well as pulling up some Bracken that is spreading across the grassland area.

Thankfully the torrential rain on Wednesday didn't hit the beautiful @NTGuernsey Clifton Valley so GCV had a lovely dry morning chopping Hemlock Water-dropwort & digging up Stinking Onions.
Such a peaceful place with birdsong & the sound of the douit running down the Valley. 💚
On Wednesday 6th May, GCV will be cutting Hemlock Water-dropwort in the beautiful @NTGuernsey Clifton Valley near La Prevote. We will be meeting at 10am. New volunteers welcome.😀

Another busy Wednesday work party at La Societe Guernesiaise orchid meadows at Rue Rocheuse. Chopping Hemlock Water-dropwort to stop this plant dominating the meadow. Lovely to see the Loose-flowered Orchids starting to flower.

Thank you very much to Barney from @juliusbaer for coming along to the GCV work party at Rue Rocheuse orchid fields. You did a great job cutting Hemlock Water-dropwort to allow more space for orchids to grow.👏👏
