A private initiative to build a viable, sustainable Sports Tourism Event leg to Guernsey’s economy. Run by David Piesing. Please DM with any suggestions.
Inside 24 hours 9 extremely interesting sports tourism suggestions have been put forward right across the scale range. All look potentially viable and repeatable, and ideal for Guernsey to host using existing facilities and our great coastline. Let's keep the ideas coming in!
Don’t forget that the Skipton Cup @SkiptonInt between @guernseyfc and FC Isle of Man is taking place at Footes Lane on 31st July! Sports tourism at its best!
@andydovey@distance_gg@gg_marathon@GuernseyUltra@GuernseyTri By coincidence had a meeting about exactly this yesterday, resurrecting what were extremely successful regular events hosted by Guernsey for several years. Let's bring them back. What a great way to showcase the island.
@MrsCulverwell @GsySTAG Such a good idea Nic. Scilly Isles have a big swimming festival that sells out in hours each year, would be fantastic to see something similar here!
@GsySTAG Can we start with a British & Irish Lions Training Camp? Oh, hold on......
On a serious note, happy to be involved if needed and will give my full support.
it's cheaper for my girlfriend to fly to Jersey from Ireland than it is for me to get there and I can see it from the top of my road. Absolutely ridiculous.
Well done to Martin Belcher and Peter Stahelin for all their work and drive to get the Guernsey Sports Lottery launched. Now let’s all get fully behind it and raise vital extra funding to help local sport!
@BBCGuernsey Aurigny is too small to operate an effective and profitable low cost model. Introduce a fixed flat rate and stop all the complicated and expensive messing around. “That’s the price....fill the seats!” When planes are full then you can start to put prices up.
