Do self-compassionate people's brains show any difference from others' ones? We found that they tend to have smaller left DLPFC and it is primarily driven by less self-judgment/criticism. https://t.co/1ouPPNNDIW
How does self-compassion protect depressed adolescents? Quieting the self may be the key! https://t.co/3NLVAIAkeE Thanks to training from @WIDiscovery, this is my first attempt to write a story of our scientific findings for the public. @healthyminds @UMN_Psychiatry @nazhang_phd
Grant writing advice. Many people get too detailed and assume background knowledge of the reviewer too quickly. Your grant early on needs to answer (in my view) these questions:
"Is there a 'social' brain? implementations and algorithms' new paper with @brain_apps & @stevewcchang in @TrendsCognSci! https://t.co/9MJRR2uGUb thread below👇
A useful and nuanced video interview with me about problems with measuring implicit bias & the efficacy of implicit bias-oriented diversity training

A dream collaboration with @nazhang_phd, Jia Yuan Teoh, Christine Egan, Thomas Zeffiro, #RichardDavidson & Karina Quevedo! Big thanks to all my great co-authors!
Our new article https://t.co/jJOJLuSmBK is out @PsychMedJournal: self-compassionate youth show lower depression & less immersion/conflict/control-related neural responses to sad self, but more empathy-related ones to sad other. @self_compassion@healthyminds@nazhang_phd Thread👇
But during sad other-face, SC relates to more activity in empathy-related regions (insula/SI/IPL) in healthy (but not depressed) youth. All these appear to suggest that SC youth dwell less on their own distress, but more empathic to others’ one, at least among healthy youth.
