Thank you to all of my fellow representatives who stood with me to honor the life and legacy of @JillGloverSD12 on the floor of the Texas House today.
She made a real and lasting difference in the trajectory of the @TexasGOP and Texas. We will never forget her. #HR170
Let me get this straight...
100 County GOP Chairs want to follow the pre-determined rules and elect Cook for Speaker.
So does a coalition of US Congressmen from Texas.
So does the Trump administration.
So does the state GOP Convention.
So do the majority of Republican State Reps.
So do the Governor, Atty Gen, and Lt Gov.
So do all the grassroots orgs around.
And yet somehow this is an effort led by one boogeyman who has bought everyone off? 🤣😅🤣
Who knew Tim Dunn had THAT much power, money, and influence!!!
The choice is clear.
Dade Phelan stepped down because he knew the only way to keep all of these broken systems in power was to endorse Dustin Burrows to replace him. #txlege
In light of the House Republicans who are threatening to not follow the rules of the caucus and vote for a Speaker supported by Democrats, many are saying those members should be censured and/or primaried.
Of course, while those remedies may have some effectiveness, they still cost another 2 years. The time to punch back is NOW. We need to press our advantage NOW.
Here are a couple ideas (others no doubt have thought of these as well, and perhaps some are even now preparing to implement/announce them):
1. @GovAbbott announces unequivocally that he will veto any bills of House Republicans who defy the caucus.
2. @DanPatrick announces unequivocally that he will not move any bills (including local and consent bills) in the Senate of House Republicans who defy the caucus.
In this age of Lawfare, Democrats don’t hesitate. They don’t settle for a solution two years away. They go to war with the army they have. They move.
So let’s go.
@MQSullivan@TXGOPCaucus Leftists have caused me to have a very negative opinion of "activists."
I'd call this a grassroots group, conservatives, supporters, concerned Texans, or something that means politically active, involved, informed voters.
