Autumn is the time for mushrooms, so now you can enjoy delicious chanterelles and morels. As a delicacy, the schnitzel is filled with a slice of ham and a sage leaf. To make the schnitzel wafer-thin, we cut the meat lightly on the side with our GÜDE knife Alpha Barrel Oak.
High quality knives from a master hand. In our GÜDE Manufaktur in Solingen, Germany, we have been forging knife blades in laborious handcraft since 1910 - without compromise!
In the past, licorice was not only available in the supermarket, but also in the pharmacy. The black juice from the liquorice root was in great demand. Due to its anti-inflammatory effect, you can also use the tangy-tasting liquorice to strengthen your immune system.
Our Alpha Walnut Knife will bring even the least bit of cooking muffle to the stove. The knife handle lies comfortably in the hand and provides a pleasant cutting feeling.

Handles made of different woods like oak, olive, pear or walnut give our “bread saw” a special feel and look. In our latest series SYNCHROS, the bread knife is equipped with a completely new handle design:

If the blade is too short, the knife must be moved back and forth to reach the bottom of the loaf of bread. This back and forth often results in an unevenly sliced slice of bread. With its 32 cm length, our bread knife Franz GÜDE is significantly longer than normal bread knives.
Bread is sliced, you will say. But on closer inspection, that is not quite right. Because when “slicing” a loaf of bread, crumbs/crumbs accumulate. This is - technically speaking - an unmistakable sign of “chipping” a slice from a loaf of bread.

Here’s a little tip for cooking pumpkins. Cut it in half and bake it in the oven at 120 to 150 degrees Celsius for about 20 to 30 minutes. Afterwards it is soft enough to be hollowed out, cut and peeled. A great recipe for using our GÜDE cleaver:

The so-called calendar swords had months, weeks and days and also special dates for the veneration of saints etched on both sides of their blades. These swords - always made for specific years - were very popular as exclusive collector’s items from 1520 onwards.

In the days of Corona, many have switched to online trading, who usually like to buy in local shops. How did it develop for you? Where do you prefer to buy our knives: In an online shop or rather where you can experience them in all their glory first?
When you consider that more than 30,000 years of development have gone into such a bread knife, a completely new enthusiasm for this everyday object arises again. Even though we can proudly say our knives are really everything else but everyday ;-).
The rule that mussels should only be eaten in the months ending with “R” is no longer as strict as in the past. Today they are strictly controlled before they end up on the market. We want to kick off the “official” mussel season with a great recipe: https://t.co/z8h79t1Ql5
“Delivery women” carried the goods back and forth between the remaining workshops of the grinders and the cutlery companies in Solingen. They transported the heavy load in large baskets on their heads, with a Pölf underneath (cushion) to absorb the weight of the knives.
