what the hell are we doing here if we aren’t going to chase the things that make us feel most alive? if there is something in your soul telling you that you’re capable of more, listen to it! and then go work for it. embarrass yourself trying. spend the years it takes to get better. do whatever it takes to give that feeling a real shot at becoming your life.
you don’t get to spend your days doing whatever feels easiest and then act personally offended when your life reflects it. there’s a consequence to the way you spend your time. eventually, the life you’ve been imagining has to compete with the life you’ve actually been creating. the world doesn’t owe you a better outcome because you had good intentions. but here’s the beautiful thing about that: you can change what you’re creating at any moment. you can start making different choices today and give yourself an entirely different future to look forward to.
Nike’s CEO once asked Steve Jobs for advice.
Steve told him, “Nike makes some of the best products in the world, but you also make a lot of crap. Just get rid of the crap.”
@RonnieFieg came to a similar realization while working at David Z, and decides to create Kith:
“I saw an opportunity in being passionate about 100% of the things I was doing, not about 10–15% of the things I was doing.”
Do yourself a favour: take a few minutes to listen to this conversation between these two gentlemen.
It's not only a great example of genuine, thoughtful communication, but it also shows why it is so important to include the older generation in our society: to listen to them and learn from them.
I wonder how many have the same regret as this man?
“There is nothing which for my part I like better than conversing with aged men; for I regard them as travellers who have gone a journey which I too may have to go.”
- Socrates, in Plato’s Republic.
What a gentleman.
Simplemente haces tu trabajo, mejoras tu vida y sigues adelante.
truly the moment the flip switched in my head was when I stopped blaming the world for everything that was wrong with my life and realized this is actually on me. not everything that happens to me, obviously. shit happens. people fuck you over. plans fall apart and life will keep throwing things at you that you never asked for and never saw coming. that’s never going to stop. but what you do with it is yours. control what you can control and stop wasting your life fighting what you can’t. if you’re always waiting for the world to get its shit together before you get yours together, you’re screwed.
@RoyIsThaTruth I always say everyone has a vice. Maybe it’s a drink or a blunt . Maybe you smoke cigarettes, maybe you like to play poker on the weekends. The point is even if it’s not the healthiest or most productive vice we all have 1 , and in this society we all deserve to have 1.
Let me be REAL for a minute: You cannot work full time, stay in great shape, be an amazing spouse, be a great parent, keep up with every friend, build a business, invest, grow your wealth, travel, read, have hobbies, keep the house together, answer every text, eat perfectly, sleep 8 hours a night and somehow be fully present for ALL OF IT. That’s complete bullshit.
this thing called life is even more shorter than we realize.
you see, there are times i sit down and ask myself, even those who want to live 100 years, as though 100 years is even a very, very long time.
don't get me wrong, it sounds long if you say it as a number: 100 years but break those 100 years down and suddenly you realize that it doesn't sound long anymore.
you spend the first few years of your life learning to walk, talk and understand the world. there comes primary school, secondary school , university, perhaps another training, another degree and before you know it, you're already in your late 20s and 30s.
a very big lol to that 18 year old and 20 year old boy that is still calling himself a young boy or a young girl. a very big lol on you.
cos very soon life will demand something from you. you get a job, you start looking for money, building a career, paying rent, building a house, getting married and raising children. somewhere in betwn those responsibilities, tragedy will strike that one is sure now, sure. everybody will face one or two tragedies.
imagine you live up to 100 years. your first 20 has already gone into childhood, adolescence and education then there is another part that goes into working, raising children, taking care of family responsibilities and all.
before you see it, you're already 60. and you begin to ask yourself, where did the time go?
most people that are 50 years old now, a few years ago they were still bubbling and young. and then now they even ask themselves, where did the time go? listen to me , what is fascinating about life is that numbers are deceptive, or should i say numbers are deceptive.
100 years sounds enormous but life should be lived not as 100. life is lived in phases and every phase takes something from you.
when you have the energy, you don't have the resources. when you have the resources, you don't have the freedom. when you have the freedom, you may not have the same energy to do it and when you have the wisdom, time has become the most expensive currency..
One of the reasons why Pep is so good is obsession. I don’t think there’s any coach as obsessed with football as him. It’s not just that he watches football or studies tactics, he genuinely lives in the details of the game.
There’s a story from his Bayern Munich days that explains it. Pep would prepare three separate team talks before matches, each around 15 minutes, and he would break down the opponent’s attacking patterns on video, identify where they could hurt Bayern, then take those ideas straight into training so the players could rehearse how to stop them.
He regularly admits that he cannot sleep because he is constantly visualizing passing lanes, opponent movements, and spaces.
There’s a popular story that, The night before the 2009 El Classico against Real Madrid, Pep was locked in his office staring at tape. At around 10:30 PM, he then realized Real Madrid’s central defenders stayed deep, leaving a gap between them and the midfield.
Obsessed with exploiting this space, he called Messi into the training ground that night. He pointed at the screen and told Messi he wouldn't be playing on the wing, but rather dropping deep into the midfield to confuse the defenders. They practiced it in the dark, kept it a complete secret from the rest of the team until the pre match talk, and went out the next day to destroy Real Madrid 6-2
There’s another story During his time at Bayern Munich, Pep became obsessed with overloading the central midfield. He woke up in the middle of the night realizing that his world class right back, Philipp Lahm, had the perfect tactical intelligence to play as a central midfielder instead. That was how Lahm moved into midfield.
Even City’s training pitches were divided into 20 to 32 zones to help players understand spacing and positioning. Training sessions were recorded, analysed and used to correct tiny details. Pep would literally stop drills to reposition players and explain where they needed to be.
He doesn’t just want his team to win, he wants to understand why they won, why they lost, why a particular movement worked, why another one failed, and how he can make it better.
That obsession is also why his football keeps evolving. Barcelona Pep wasn’t exactly the same as Bayern Pep, and Bayern Pep wasn’t exactly the same as Manchester City Pep. He keeps learning, experimenting and adding new ideas. He’s that crazy.

start living the way u actually want to live and let reality catch up. stop sitting around waiting for the resources, certainty, or permission first. make the move. deal with what comes back. that's how shit gets done.
Going to leave you with this tonight:
The best thing you can do for yourself is actively increase your surface area for luck to hit you.
Go outside, travel more, go to new cafes, museums, events, take a new route home, go for hikes, see cities, countrysides, take your notebook, speak to people, ask questions, start businesses - go on more side quests.
You can literally just do things, and the more you do, the more serendipity and synchronicity will find you.
Night gang.
Major cheat code in life: Be the one who reaches out. Text first. Call first. Plan first. Initialize first. Most people wait to be chosen. Be the chooser. Connection requires initiative. Friendship requires effort. Love requires action. Stop waiting to be picked. Start picking. Initiative is attractive.
