The larger the volume of water, the more stable the chemistry, and the less work you have to do to fix problems.
Here are 4 habitat rules every keeper needs to know.

4. Respect the cycle.
Never put a goldfish into a brand-new tank on day one. Establish the nitrogen cycle first.
Let the tank run for 4 to 6 weeks to build the bacteria colonies that convert toxic ammonia into safe nitrates. Skipping this step leads to New Tank Syndrome.
