Black Sheep. £3.89 for a flat white and you have to type your order into a screen instead of talking to one of the actual people waiting behind the counter. Fail. 4/10, before the coffee has even arrived.
High St Cafe Nero. It's a cafe Nero but has its charm. Stripped floorboards and brick walls. Faux antique mirrors. The barista calls everyone boss. Weird space-saving tables for 2. Flat white milk is scalded and the coffee tastes of an ashtray, but not in a totally bad way. 6/10
Knoops. New in Market Street where the Hoxton Bagel Bakery used to be. Flat White was OK. Zero ambience and not many tables, so catering to a takeaway crowd. I dunno, I preferred the Hoxton's. 6/10
Ole and Steens. The flat white is good and the cinnamon socials are great. Sandwiches are also good. The queue is a problem and they are very slow to make coffee. Distinctly middle-class crowd. Bit corporate. 8/10
It's time to kick off the number's game! These are quite difficult to find, so it will be intermittant. Counting up. Where in #Guildford is this No. 1?
