Who is Fethullah Gülen
Born into a traditional family, Fethullah Gülen spent his childhood in atmosphere of traditional sufi orders and religious schools. He had limitless curiosity and a love of knowledge.

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the victims, their families, and all those forever affected by this tragedy. In the immediate aftermath of the attacks, Muslim scholar Mr. Fethullah Gülen unequivocally condemned the violence:
“I would like to stress that any terrorist activity, no matter who does it and for what purpose, is the greatest blow to peace, democracy and humanity.”
Twenty-five years later, we reaffirm the enduring values of peace, human dignity, and the sanctity of every innocent life.

July 15 | 3,650 Days of the Decree Laws (KHKs) in Turkey
Over the past decade, #Türkiye's state of emergency decrees (KHKs) have led to widespread human rights violations, creating a system of "social death" that has affected millions.
The European Parliament's, @Europarl_EN, 2025 Report on Türkiye paints a stark picture of continued democratic backsliding, the erosion of the rule of law, and worsening human rights conditions. While recognizing Türkiye's strategic importance as a NATO ally and regional partner, the Parliament emphasizes that meaningful progress in EU–Türkiye relations depends on concrete improvements in democracy, human rights, judicial independence, accountability, and the protection of fundamental freedoms.
Meanwhile, the European Court of Human Rights, @ECHR_CEDH, has found Türkiye in violation of multiple provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights, including Article 7 (no punishment without law), Article 6 (the right to a fair trial), Article 11 (freedom of association), and Article 3 (the prohibition of inhuman or degrading treatment).
Johan Heymans, the human rights lawyer who represented the applicant in the Yalçınkaya case, argues that Türkiye's failure to implement ECtHR judgments not only deepens the "social death" experienced by victims but also increases the responsibility and international legal accountability of public officials who continue to perpetuate human rights violations.
It is with deep sorrow that the Rumi Forum mourns the passing of Professor John Esposito — a longtime friend of our organization, a former member of our Advisory Board, and an influential scholar of Islam and Muslim-Christian relations.
As a prolific author of more than 45 books, Professor Esposito devoted his life to building bridges of understanding between faiths and cultures. At a time when fear and misunderstanding too often dominated public discourse, he spoke with clarity, courage, and compassion.
For the Rumi Forum, he was more than a renowned scholar — he was a generous mentor, a steadfast supporter of interfaith dialogue, and a cherished friend whose wisdom and warmth graced our community for many years.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Dr. Jean Esposito, his family, colleagues, and students around the world. His legacy of dialogue, scholarship, and peace will continue to inspire our work.
Rest in peace, dear friend.
720 thousand people are citizens of this country. The duty of the state is to provide security to its citizens; the duty of the judiciary is to establish justice. Figures on this scale recall authoritarian regimes where the judiciary is used intensely as a tool for punishment.
720 thousand people have been subject to legal proceedings. And, this is being boasted about.
A significant portion of these trials has ended in acquittals, a portion of the conviction decisions are met with rulings of human rights violations by the European Court of Human Rights
Fethullah Gülen Hocaefendi has clearly and repeatedly rejected the claims of his involvement in the July 15 events and, from the very first moment, called for the establishment of an independent, international commission.
What really happened on July 15, 2016?
Ten years later, many critical questions remain unanswered.
Our latest video reconstructs the chronology of the events before, during, and after July 15, examining intelligence warnings, military movements, government decisions, and the sweeping crackdown that followed.

Hizmet Hareketi’ni yeniden hedef alan gerçeklikten uzak söylemler ve on yıldır süren hukuksuzluklar üzerine zaruri bir açıklama: https://t.co/DBJeScnigt
We are deeply saddened by the horrific shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego in which two teenagers shot and killed three members of the Muslim community. We strongly condemn this attack and the hatemongering that appears to have influenced the attackers. We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.
In this painful moment, we stand together with American Muslims and all Americans in urging calm and a renewed commitment to protecting religious freedom.
