Jinnah was ahead of his time.
There was once a time when one could truly sympathise with the plight of Muslims across the border; watching, day after day, the injustices inflicted upon them at the hands of the BJP. But of late, that sympathy has been tested. Their rhetoric now seeks to rip from our grasp the very name, Pakistan, for which our forefathers bled. It is nothing short of sickening.
When Hindustan was partitioned, there were, no doubt, many who questioned whether this fledgling state, Pakistan, would survive under the stewardship of its Muslim leaders. Today, it is far too convenient for politicians seated comfortably in opposition to cast doubt on the validity of our nation’s existence. Yet in doing so, they erase the urgency and necessity of Pakistan’s creation in 1947. India, for all its lofty promises of secularism under Nehru, quickly veered into the arms of Hindu-first ideology following his passing. The writing has always been on the wall.
PTI leaders today will have you believe that Pakistan was a mistake—that it was not worth the sacrifice, not worth the struggle. They shamelessly attack the military, mock the memory of every shaheed who laid down their life so we might live in freedom. To them, it is all politics, all theatre. That is, of course, until—pardon my French—shit hits the fan. And when it does, where will they run? Where will their convictions take them then?
Look no further than Palestine. A people robbed of sovereignty, crying out for a homeland to call their own. Their longing echoes in the hearts of many Pakistanis. And yet, paradoxically, many of those same Pakistanis take for granted the very nation they were gifted. We have a home. We have a place where our language, our culture, our beliefs are not foreign. And still, we are thankless.
We bicker over party lines and petty domestic grievances, forgetting the miracle of Pakistan’s existence. We sit comfortably within its borders and dare to suggest that Jinnah erred. That Pakistan was a misstep.
If that was a mistake, it is one I would gladly die a thousand times over for. For in it we found life, identity, and dignity. The countless Pakistanis toiling abroad, sending money home, would give anything just to walk through their front doors and feel, once again, the embrace of their culture, their soil, their people.
We are, undeniably, a thankless people. But as The Thursday Times editorial wisely reminded us just days ago: remember Jinnah in your prayers. The Kashmiris, the Palestinians, and every other silenced minority suffering under occupation would surrender everything for a Jinnah of their own.
Pakistan gave you everything. Jinnah gave you everything. Never forget that.
Mr Goswami you are a loser. You must accept that Pakistan won this war on military as well as on diplomatic front. @realDonaldTrump actually gave a face saving to India. You tried to win this war through fake news but you lost it badly. You actually damaged India not Pakistan.
