Today at the Port of Mogadishu, we proudly welcomed the inaugural Akkon Lines vessel, marking a new chapter in maritime connectivity between Somalia and Türkiye and a major step toward connecting Somalia more efficiently to regional and global markets.
By significantly reducing container transit times, this new service will accelerate trade, strengthen supply chains, and create new opportunities for businesses in both countries. Enhanced connectivity is the foundation of trade, investment, and economic growth, and today’s milestone reflects our shared commitment to making Somalia a leading maritime gateway in the region.
We thank the Government of Türkiye, Akkon Lines, and all stakeholders whose efforts and commitment have made this important achievement possible. As the Ministry of Ports and Marine Transport, we will continue to support initiatives that strengthen connectivity, facilitate trade, and deepen the economic partnership between Somalia and Türkiye.
It is our great honor to launch the 1st Somalia Maritime Conference—the beginning of an annual platform dedicated to advancing Somalia’s maritime future.
Somalia’s ocean is one of our greatest national assets. With Africa’s longest mainland coastline, Somalia is uniquely positioned to become a leading maritime nation. It holds enormous opportunities for economic growth, trade, jobs, food security, and regional connectivity.
Together, we will discuss maritime governance, ports, shipping, fisheries, maritime security, environmental protection, investment, and sustainable ocean management.
The Somalia Maritime Conference is more than an event—it is a national platform for dialogue, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and lasting partnerships that will shape our maritime future.
Together, let us chart a course toward a prosperous, secure, and sustainable maritime future.
Our Ocean. Our Future. 🌊🇸🇴

Alhamdulillah! 🤲🤲 Türkiye is quickly emerging as the #1 #energy partner of choice in the #Muslim world! After brotherly Somalia, Libya and Pakistan (among others), #Ankara has now also added #Syria to its #offshore#oilandgas zones development list for 2026. Additionally, #TPAO is also developing a new on-shore project in Northern Iraq. Meanwhile, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is reportedly meeting #Erdogan this week to discuss fighting Israel's illegal recognition of #Somaliland and announce the official start of #drilling operations. 💹
🇸🇴🇹🇷 Türkiye is mobilizing #TCGSancaktar, #TCGGökova & #TCGBafra to the Gulf of Aden in preparation for the dispatching of #CağrıBey ultra-deep-sea #drilling ship to brotherly #Somalia. The vessels will provide security & logistics tasks while supporting Somali #energy goals. ⚓️
Anyone interested in understanding the reasons behind the frequent opposition of Somali leaders should view this interview with Dr. Ali Haaji Warsame.
It is a well-established fact that individuals who are unqualified or lack resources prior to becoming president are invariably inclined to oppose, as there are limited alternative roles available to them.
It appears that their primary endeavors are attempts to regain the position from which they were ousted. Consider, however, someone who has been in opposition for over twenty years, whose fortunes have not yet allowed a return to office, and who prioritizes peace within their country over chaos, demonstrating patience in the face of the hardships that may afflict their nation.

Three years ago my career path felt kind of obvious. You picked a language or tech stack, learned it deeply, became very good at it and then sold that experience.
Now I’m in a weird position. I can move between development, CI/CD, DevOps and SRE and almost every real problem I’ve encountered has eventually been solvable. Given enough time and an agent, I’m fairly confident I could solve most problems I’d realistically be hired to work on.
That sounds like increased competence, but it’s very difficult to sell on a CV. I’m not an expert in all those languages or stacks.
The honest claim would be something like: “I can enter unfamiliar territory, discover what matters and deliver a working result.”
That may be more valuable than knowing one stack extremely well. Or it may simply be something AI has made achievable for almost anyone. And how is a company supposed to verify it before hiring me?
I’ve never felt more capable of doing the work, but I’ve also never felt less capable of selling my experience.

“In 1960, all five members of the UN Security Council plus 25 other states recognized Somaliland’s independence. Recognition of its reassertion is inevitable as Somaliland thrives while Somalia flirts with terrorism, Turkish exploitation, and state failure.
The question now is whether Armenia gains the moral, strategic, and commercial benefits of being among the first or whether caution once again undermines Armenia’s influence.” — @mrubin1971
