Folks, sounds like it’s time for a State of the Union check on where we are at when it comes to deportations….The public deserves to understand what changed over the past year.
Under Kristi Noem’s DHS, the loud and proud era ran on the enforcement branch of DHS, the US Border Patrol, which deployed to the interior to LA, Chicago, Charlotte, New Orleans and Minneapolis. Over 5,000 arrests in LA alone, more than 3,000 in Chicago.
Then Minneapolis happened. Renee Good, Alex Pretti; 2 dead. The Border Patrol was removed in favor of a low-key, less visible approach, and @RealTomHoman and @CBPCommissioner, the gatekeepers of the truth from the president, took over.
The entire mission of deportations was thrust upon ICE, an investigative branch never designed for street enforcement.
Here’s what the “ softer approach” bought us….The shootings didn’t stop, they just stopped being filmed. Houston, Maine, Austin, the Bronx all saw shootings. Same pace as the loud and proud era.
And the numbers? They had to cook the books. The 356,000 removals they brag about mix border expulsions and voluntary returns into the count. Strip that out and the interior number is a fraction of what’s advertised.
Under the loud and proud approach, 2 million self-deportations. Virtually none now. A targeted arrest nobody films doesn’t produce a self-deportation.
A visible operation does.
If this is success, I don’t know what failure looks like…
