The MHLEPQ is calling for the elimination of seclusion and restraint in the Queensland mental health system. Seclusion and restraint is both a failure of care and limiting basic human rights of consumers.

We have just published a systematic review for the MATES in Construction program. It found the program effective in improving mental health and suicide prevention literacy, improving helping intentions and reducing stigma. Possible reduced suicide rates. https://t.co/YLwlNhLRZ4
I just left the District Court of NSW where @NSWAmbulance service has been criminally convicted of a charge under Sec 33 WHS Act in relation to the suicide of my Uncle, paramedic Tony Jenkins. It will be 5 years this Sunday since he died. Paramedics deserve better @SafeWork_NSW
@waterssarah56 Good time to tell @H_S_E it should introduce RIDDOR reporting requirements for work-related #suicide

It is fundamentally right but it is something we have been talking about for 15 years and it requires the clinician to give up some power in the relationship and that is hard to come by in a risk focused system.
@Fabion1992@9NewsAUS Well if workers are treated really bad then there is even more reason for workers looking after each other. MATES is workers looking after each other - not really able to deal with the employers that is perhaps more of the Unions role?
