Gullivers Sports Ground

A community group set up to bring back Gullivers Sports Ground - the former home of @SidleyUnitedFC - back into use as a key venue for the local community.

[Gullivers Sports Ground @GulliversSG]

This is what your local community club means to people. A sense of purpose, of BELONGING. Not just about football, but about the whole package.
THIS is what the town of Sidley want back.
Their club, their community.
MAKE IT HAPPEN.

[Liam Cox @LDCox5]

Interviews like this from @bunch_amateurs to Martin Clarke of @DorkingWDRS really show how important football is to the local community and how important local people, like Martin are to football clubs.

I don’t know him but this 30 seconds of interview just screams ‘Legend’!

[Gullivers Sports Ground @GulliversSG]

The response from the community so far already has been staggering and there IS hope for Gullivers.
We believe. #BringSidleyHome

[Gullivers Sports Ground @GulliversSG]

We need this kind of response from EVERY person across Sussex. Get Sidley back #HOME and give the town back their community hub which can serve SO MANY. Spread the word, join the fight! @RotherDC @SamColemanActor @BBCSussexSport

[Keyser Söze @LeightonTreagus]

Incredibly sad. One of my favourite county league away grounds. Some great memories (and some not so great 👟). All involving @ReneThePiranha funnily enough. Story of my life. Get Sidley home and give the community their club back @GulliversSG 👍

[Gullivers Sports Ground @GulliversSG]

There is NO "development opportunity". Don't be conned. The only option is for the space to be brought back to the community who care passionately about the land.

[Gullivers Sports Ground @GulliversSG]

This is appalling. Attempted greed after taking @SidleyUnitedFC home and failing to EVER get permission to build, now trying to take a profit and run. Anyone wanting to take a gamble on this should know it will NEVER be granted. It MUST be returned to the community...

[Gullivers Sports Ground @GulliversSG]

PLEASE PLEASE spread the word. The council, the community... NO ONE wants it built on. We want our land back as it should be.

[Gullivers Sports Ground @GulliversSG]

THIS is what Gullivers should be. A space for the community to enjoy and use, a place for @SidleyUnitedFC to base themselves.
NOT a place to build houses and steal the community's hub.
IT MUST RETURN TO US. #Backthebid #DevelopersOUT #Gullivers #BringSidleyHome

[Gullivers Sports Ground @GulliversSG]

@NeilTidd1969 @oldtronwellian The kids who were 15 when we lost the ground, they are now 23. One generation lost the opportunity to enjoy football and friendship at Gullivers. That’s massively disappointing

[Gullivers Sports Ground @GulliversSG]

@NeilTidd1969 @oldtronwellian That’s the main reason why we need our land back to re-build our community hub and club again

[Redwell Estates @RedwellEstates_]

It’s part of Bexhill,s and County footballs heritage @GulliversSG

[Gullivers Sports Ground @GulliversSG]

@crapet270386 @SidleyUnitedFC @leonlegge32 Their (developers) private greed over our memories

[Gullivers Sports Ground @GulliversSG]

Yes, we know it has been a very slow process but we can tell you some good news will be announced very soon but we want to know DO WE REALLY WANT GULLIVERS BACK AND @SidleyUnitedFC TO START PLAYING THERE AGAIN? @leonlegge32 How deeply you want to play in the opening game?

[Billy Wood @BillyWood__]

Would be brilliant to bring the ground back! Always wishing you the best with this 💪💪💪

[Gullivers Sports Ground @GulliversSG]

@Happycabs1 Historically we identified so many mistakes which resulted loosing Gullivers but on bringing it back to the community we can confirm that @HuwMerriman @RotherDC @SamColemanActor and @HeartOfSidley have been extremely supportive and the journey is just beginning.

[Gullivers Sports Ground @GulliversSG]

How do you feel seeing Gullivers like that?

[Football Foundation @FootballFoundtn]

There's something so satisfying about a time-lapse video 😍

Great work, @StaveleyMWFC 👏

[Gullivers Sports Ground @GulliversSG]

@leonlegge32 Their greed against our community need.

[Stuart Jenner @oldtronwellian]

Sad to see

[Sidley United F.C @SidleyUnitedFC]

From the man himself. He understand the need for Sidley to have its football team back home and supporting the community. We will keep fighting to make it happen. ⚽

[Gullivers Sports Ground @GulliversSG]

That’s what Bill was saying about Gullivers @SidleyUnitedFC
