At the end of every 1-on-1 interview, I ask the person if they have anything else they'd like to say or add.
Over the weekend, I sat down with Mavericks rookie Dereck Lively II.
I gave him the floor.
He looked into the camera.
And the 19-year old delivered this...

Almost 10 months ago exactly, I had floor seats to the Memphis Grizzlies vs Golden State Warriors game. Vince Williams Jr. was on a two-way and had only appeared in 11 games for the Grizzlies. He sat across from me in a hoodie and sweatpants on the far end of the bench. His eyes never left the floor and I noticed him absorbing and paying attention to every single play and movement that was happening in the game.
10 months later, Vince Williams Jr. dropped 24 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks in a short handed victory over the exact same team in the exact same place.
Perfect example of stay down until you come up. 🤝 @Vincentwiliams it’s been a pleasure watching you grow.

Congrats to our Varsity Boys team for 1st place at regionals! Well deserved!
Also congrats to our guys who placed top 10!

Apologies to Chase Peterson of Colliervillle! The instant results for the 300 meter hurdles were messed up at first and then I got busy and forgot to go back. But Chase established a state-best time of 38.15 on Saturday and looks like the man to beat at Spring Fling.
Colliervillle goes 1-2 in the 800 with Ava Lang first and Scarlett Nash second. Third goes to Gracey Owens of Houston and Daisy Miller of Bartlett fourth.
Big tip of the cap to coach Seymour and everyone at Collierville. Although you don't qualify for state as a team, the Dragons finished second to Central today in both the boys and girls team competitions. That's really good progress in a short time.
