The VC made the statement while opening an induction training on Wednesday,17/June 2026 for 92 staff who newly joined the university service.

The National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), the commercial and business arm of the Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces (UPDF) has on Monday 15,June 2026 handed over the Faculty of Medicine to Gulu University after completion of major renovation at the Faculty.
The team had taken over the Faculty in October 2025 where they carried overall painting of the building ,reinstallation of electrical wiring and fitting, roof rehabilitation and ceiling work among others.
Prof. Openjuru,George Ladaah, the University Vice-Chancellor who led management team at the handover ceremony at the Faculty said the university is proud of the UPDF. He received the keys from Lt.Aggrey Grace Bidhasala from NEC who said quality work was done.
Prof. Patrick Okori ,the Executive Secretary of the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) on Monday,15th June 2026 paid a courtesy on Gulu University Management.

Gulu University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Openjuru ,George Ladaah is currently doing monitoring visits at all the university establishments outside the main campus in Gulu City. Prof. Openjuru and his team reached Gulu University Kotido Campus on Wednesday 10th June 2026 before moving to Moroto where a classroom block is being finished to start programmes in the next Academic Year at the Constituency College of Agriculture.
Prof. Openjuru, George Ladaah, the Gulu University Vice-Chancellor is now at Hoima-Bunyoro Kitara Campus. The Vice-Chancellor first visited the 6 acre University land situated at Buswekera Sub-county before meeting the staff at the Library.

Students of Kasese Secondary School and Rwenzori High are at Gulu University for a tour to have a first hand real feel of university life, environment and general campus atmosphere as they envision to join the university in the near future.
Masereka Johnson, one of the teachers who accompanied the students for the tour was impressed by the look of the university and its visibility across the country that made them to decide not to miss stepping foot and encouraging both students and teachers to pursue their courses at the higher institution of learning.

The Minister of State Education in-charge of Sports .Hon.Peter Ogwang has today presided in a function of handing over the site for the construction of Gulu University Sports Training Facility to the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MoDVA). The facility with Pece Stadium is part of the 2027 hosting AFCON required facilities being built countrywide .
The Minister said beyond AFCON preparation, its a deliberate move by the Ministry of Education and Sports through National Council of Sports to see that sports facilities are upgraded throughout the regions of Uganda to promote talent boost in the country.
He also used the opportunity to thank people in Acoli Sub- region for voting President Museveni Kaguta and getting more leaders from Opposition to NRM like Hon. Ojara Martin Mapenduzi and others who now are forces of transformation for the region within the ruling party.
