Helpful framework to think about a company’s value:
Value to the world = Value of a world with it - Value with a world without it
Value to shareholders = Value to the world * % captured with profits
It’s not about being left leaning imo, it’s about being anti-war. Anthropic position is way more popular than the government on this one. (Proof point: the winning promise during election was to not enter more wars)
If your goal was to attract the 3,000 PhDs in AI working in big tech, of which 90%+ are left leaning, Anthropic is running a perfect playbook with their corporate communications.
Only one major CEO in big tech is being adversarial with President Trump and the 47th administration — and that’s @DarioAmodei

@tristajaye Disclosure: 10 years ago I was at the personal credit team at Itau in Brazil when we launched all the things above (#1 was forced by the government).
Also, note: overdraft is super expensive for banks, because they need to allocate a ton of capital to it even when not used.
@tristajaye 3. Allow people to balance the overdraft w/ an installment plan with lower rates. This helps people who got to deep into it to get organized again.
@HarryStebbings As you scale, how do you build a culture of trust & autonomy with your PMs while at the same time maintaining a clear & coherent vision?
I’ve seen most product leaders struggle with one or the other.
@Soengle Yeah, being in product and not afraid of changing industries, I feel the same. My mini-degrees:
Banking, digital signatures, for-profit education, trucking, multi-vitamins, fp&a, lawn mowing
In every episode, we’ll dive deep into one new idea, and imagine that it WORKS. What does that world look like? What do we think of it compared to the status quo? What would we need to do to get there?
@carolinecasson_ I treat it all as data, but focus on the proof not on the formula.
Never do something I don’t agree because someone told me to, but if every customer complains about the same thing, it’s probably worth looking at it. Same with employees and current investors (not potential)
Why is inflation hitting now if monetary policy has been very expansive since 2009?
Constrained supply. Both of goods (mess at the ports) and of labor. It’s that simple.
@Suhail It stimulates consumption and investments by allowing consumers and business to keep their access to loans.
And it creates inflation only to the rate that people want to consume items for which there isn't enough supply capacity.
@galeforceVC If you want to buy:
- boring non-scalable businesses (laundromat, car wash, etc)
- properties for Airbnb or rent
- small indie companies (microacquire)
If you want to build:
- any of the above
- books
- courses
@galeforceVC a) invest in a cash generating business/asset;
b) or build one;
c) or invest a bit, and then work a bit to give it an upgrade.
All options above can also be done with partners.
