The gun lobby now reportedly opposes the Violence Against Women Act because of a provision I authored in the Senate to help protect women from stalkers.
Well, I won't apologize for putting safety first.
Since we tweeted this 48 hours ago, our team has added:
+72 gun deaths
+181 gun injuries
+1 child (age 0-11) killed or injured
+21 teenagers (age 12-17) killed or injured

According to MN researchers,"The majority [of school shooters] threaten before they do it and even specifically say their plans." That's why we need a hearing and vote on red flags SF436 @SenWarrenLimmer. #MNLeg https://t.co/TmUv9GBTnM
Great news! Gazelka is willing to hold hearing on universal background checks & red flag laws, so let’s get the ball rolling! Call your MN Senators today! Let’s get these bills passed in house NOW! @MomsDemand @ProtectMN #mnleg
The Republican leader of the Minnesota Senate says he's willing to give hearings to gun control bills such as universal background checks and a "red flag" law. https://t.co/ugyiqs9wJh
BREAKING GUN SENSE VICTORY: The U.S. House of Reps just passed #HR1112, legislation that would address the Charleston loophole (the loophole that allows licensed dealers to sell a gun after three business days even if a background check has not been completed)! #EndGunViolence

Elections matter! After powerful witness testimonies, MN House Public Safety voted 9-7 to advance background checks to the House Ways and Means Committee. Thanks to all legislators who voted yes! #mnleg https://t.co/AhYXc6f3NM
More Americans have been killed with guns than have died in all U.S. wars *combined.*
That includes Birdell Beeks, an innocent bystander who was shot in Minneapolis in 2016. The suspect's gun was connected to 10 other shootings.
Today I held her picture after we passed #HR8.
The vast majority of Minnesotans support criminal background checks on all gun sales! #HF8 will do just that! Text MINNESOTA to 644-33 and tell your Representative it’s time to update #MNbackgroundchecks#MNLeg#PassHF8
Thoughts and tweets don’t save lives, ACTION saves lives. Today the 116th Congress took action and passed #HR8 to ensure sensible and reasonable background checks on firearms purchases. Here’s to all who have dedicated themselves to affecting change, particularly @MomsDemand. ❤️
EVENT: Join @MomsDemand & @ProtectMN TODAY for hearing on universal background checks & red flag bills.
DETAILS: Minnesota State Capitol room 120, arrive at 5PM, starts at 6:30 PM.
Wear orange or red! #mnleg
If violent impulses are the reaction that gun lobby advocates at #mnleg have to universal background checks, maybe they also shouldn't be able to buy assault weapons? https://t.co/rlRfvKkCUH
"Just my pro-tip of the day: when you make a mistake like that just own it and say I'm sorry. Don't tell us we misheard. I heard exactly what I heard and so did Minnesotans" 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾Thank you @GovTimWalz!
While gun lobby (mostly non-constituents) spammed @KellyForUs w/ messages she: prepped dinner, presented/participated on multiple education bills, met constituents, wrote constituent letters, & spent time w/ family. Oh & she still supports gun violence prevention measures.
This week, a MN legislator made comments encouraging violence against Minnesotans who support gun safety measures, saying they “need to be kicked to the curb and stomped on and run over a few times.”
These comments endanger our communities and undermine our democracy. #mnleg
