My husband texted me from work: "If I call you in the next hour, don't answer. It won't be me." Twenty minutes later... My phone lit up with his number. My husband had never sent a message like that before.
"If I call you in the next hour, don't answer. It won't be me."
I stared at the screen, convinced it was some strange joke.
I texted back.
What do you mean? Are you okay?
No reply.
Twenty minutes later, my phone rang.
Mark ❤️
My heart stopped.
His warning echoed in my mind.
"Don't answer."...
PART 2.
When Pretoria people say "Pretoria ma hlanyeng," I think they only mean Soshanguve. The following month, as I was busy at Shoprite buying noodles, I met the girl at Soshanguve Crossing mall.
When I saw the girl, I knew at that moment that I needed to approach her and demand my money, I was so angry. But immediately when I approached her, she shouted, "Keng abuti, who are you?" Now all the eyes were at us. To avoid getting a beating for harassing her I decide to lower my voice and told her what she did to me is wrong and I want my money back, "Abuti Nna I don't know who you are, but maybe you are talking about my twin." Apparently, she has a twin, and twin is the one scamming people.
"Because of what my twin sister did, let me make it up to you, I feel bad, tsiya card e, and go withdraw R5000, then take R2000, you will find me at KFC."
I take the Capitec card. I go to Absa and withdraw since the que at Capitec was mad long, and I withdraw the money. Now I believe that she was the scammers twin sister. I went to KFC, and I found her already waiting for me. I gave her R3000, and I took R2000. She goes on and gets a takeaway meal, which was about R500, "Aowa, abuti be a gentle man, I gave you R2000. Pay for my takeaway." I don't know why I paid, but her voice was very seductive.
She promised to question her twin about what she did, and she took my number. I decided to go and take a taxi back to res, a few minutes in. The police were already knocking.
I was seen on cameras withdrawing from the card that was stolen from another student. At that point, I knew that the twin story was all a lie.
I deregistered for that year, and I had to go back home and heal after serving 1 week in a cell. 😭😭
