I’ve been pretty quiet about my thoughts on the football team this season, other than my initial 4-8 prediction.
So here it goes, if you’re interested:
You’d be hard pressed to find a bigger diehard fan than how I grew up regarding Razorback sports. Rarely missed a home football game from the end of Bielema, all the way through Chad, and into the beginning of Pittman’s era. And if you follow me you know Hog Hoops is my life passion.
I currently have zero excitement whatsoever for this football program.
I feel like I have no energy left to give it after the last decade.
I will always be watching, I will always support the players, and I always be a fan.
But I’m tired.
And I fear others feel similarly.
There’s no momentum on the field, despite having a talented roster.
There’s no momentum on the recruiting trail, despite heading into Year 6.
Most importantly, I feel less and less excitement from the fanbase. And that’s a sad, dangerous place to be heading.
It looks like very few, maybe zero, other SEC jobs are going to be open this summer. If you’re going to make a move, you gotta make it now. Next season will be too late and the program could be set back further than necessary.
If not, it feels like a statement that we’re content with AIMING for 6-6, rather than setting that as the low end bar to reach.
