@thocpodcast IIRC there's a point where he draws a parallel between the trisolarians stunting human scientific advancement and climate activism, then in the author's notes claims to have nothing political in the story. Cool book, but there's some wild shit in that guy's head.
@LHOReborn1963@RealiaAmelia I read it as a failure to cope with grief. He's trying to get over his girl dying/leaving him and thinks the bird will take his mind off her. After he realizes the bird can only say "nevermore" he asks it if he'll ever get over her.
@CHARLOT21755647 I rewatched recently and his coworkers talk about his body being found "across town". What does "across town" mean on a planet city? The antipode?
@Malvolio421@CHARLOT21755647 I was sure that meant he was actually gonna get Lonni out because otherwise why mention the actual name? Just say "I'll take you to Glupshuttoberg 7" if you're gonna kill him anyway.
@StoneStarR24023@AuriBlooms If you include the green scare of the 90s/aughts I think we're at four but, to your point, we've been in a constant state of moral panic since the 48ers showed up.
