Gyokeres deal is officially off 😱 Deal was set to go ahead as confirmed by @David_Ornstein this afternoon but after scrutinising final numbers, Sporting's president noted that Arsenal hadn't agreed to pay for 2 mugs or Earl Grey and 2 custard creams consumed during negotiations.
Not even in Aug and Arsenal have signed:
- an experienced backup GK
- a phenomenal young CB
- a world class 6 (ahead of every elite club)
- a PL-proven captain as his backup
- an exceptional RW+LW talent, and
- the most prolific striker in the game
We’ve also renewed the contracts of one of the best CBs in the world and two of the best young players of their generation.
If you’re angry about this window you are simply choosing to enrage yourself and have no grasp of reality.
🚨❤️🤍 BREAKING: Viktor Gyökeres to Arsenal, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties involved.
Sporting accept last bid from Arsenal for €63.5m plus €10m, agent will reduce his commission.
Gyökeres will sign five year deal at #AFC. He ONLY wanted Arsenal. 🇸🇪
Two of the main reasons Arsenal didn’t win the Premier League last season were the injuries we suffered and those questionable red cards.
Even without a striker, we had a team good enough to win the league. We’re one of the most tactically efficient teams in Europe – I say that with confidence and humility.
Now, add Gyökeres, Eze, Zubimendi, and even Madueke, and we’re stronger than we were last season.
Provided we don’t suffer freak injuries like last season, Arsenal will be right up there challenging again.
Many Arsenal fans really underestimate how good this team already is. If our summer window continues like this, we’ll go one step further.
Seriously, you guys should be more confident than what I’m seeing on the timeline.
