This election has proven one thing: liberalism is dead. It's a failed ideology and has led us down the road of fascism. We are in an era of populist politics, and if anyone wants to have any shot at beating the populist right, we must deconstruct the neo-liberal Democratic order
June has been relatively quiet and oil and gas prices have dropped slightly. Most of the GOP’s recent losses in polling have been among their own voters, so now these voters feel slightly more at ease with their party. Dems need to be relentless with messaging.
Lately, we have had to grapple with several otherwise excellent candidates’ belief that defending Ukraine harms the average American financially or, worse, that they are uncomfortable with the concept of military aid. It is the responsibility of those with power to defend the interests of those without it, especially when we are the reason they are powerless.
If they aren’t willing to stand up to foreign oligarchs/imperialists, how can we believe they will be ready to stand up to America’s corporate, imperial interests when they bully & threaten them every day in Congress?
For that reason, until @claireforny commits to supporting both humanitarian & military aid to Ukraine, we cannot endorse or support her no matter how much we may otherwise align.
Solidarity with both Palestinians and Ukrainians must remain a red line.
I love AOC. I really do, but I don’t think she should run for president. She has proven countless times that her political instincts are terrible and there are other progressives who can run.
Voting for anyone who doesn’t want to tax the rich automatically makes you a bad person. Sorry, I don’t make the rules. We live in a shared society and it shouldn’t be acceptable to vote to destroy it.
