So excited to hear this from @jgpretlow as I'm one of tens of thousands of the NYers who are urging @BPHACaucus@NYSA_Majority to PASS PRRIA (A1749-a) by 6/4 to protect environmental justice communities, health, save taxpayer $s, cut waste, & meet NY's climate goals.

The paper receipt you're handed at checkout is messing with your endocrine system.
BPA, or bisphenol A, is the chemical that makes thermal paper turn dark when heat is applied. It's what makes receipts work.
It's also an endocrine disruptor linked to hormonal disruption, cardiovascular disease, and developmental problems in children.
Unlike BPA in plastic bottles, which requires the chemical to leach through a container into liquid, receipt paper absorbs directly through your skin.
Studies have found that handling a receipt for as little as five seconds transfers measurable BPA onto your fingers.
Handling it after using hand sanitizer increases absorption by up to tenfold because sanitizer opens your skin's pores.
Cashiers who handle receipts all day have significantly elevated BPA levels in their blood compared to the general population.
Go paperless on receipts wherever you can. When you can't, decline them.
If you have to take one, wash your hands before eating. It's a small thing with a surprisingly direct exposure pathway.

@SecretaryBurgum@POTUS All you are doing is saddling Americans with higher annual energy bills because fewer standards reduces efficiency, raising energy use thus, total energy bills.

Data centers are driving up electricity prices, sucking up water, taking up farm land, and AI is being used for harmful deepfake videos. We need a nationwide halt to new data centers until we can determine if the industry can be safely regulated.
The events in Minneapolis are incredibly disturbing. The credibility of ICE and DHS are at stake. There must be a full joint federal and state investigation. We can trust the American people with the truth.
Just got back from watching Earth's Greatest Enemy by @AbbyMartin@EmpireFiles on the largest polluter, the US military. Couldn't be any more timely with the naked imperialism of Gaza, Venezuela, Iran and Greenland - must watch!
