Speaking to my mum last night. She’s 83. This is her certificate of citizenship. She scrubbed floors and worked stations for no wage: just room and board. All for a better life for us kids
She walks around the Pilbara with her Yes shirt. Not one of her non Indigenous “friends” are voting yes. When they ask her why-she says this:
“Our entire lives all we have heard is “no”
Before I die; I want to hear Yes.
It means that much-and I cannot argue with that ❤️🖤💛
All this (mainly confected) angst over an advisory body.
“What do we want?”
“No advice”
“When do we want it?”
“Let me just check with my advisors”
This opposition to self determination is extraordinary.
