*FROM MUNHUMUTAPA TO THE FUTURE: WHAT WILL OUR GENERATION BUILD?*
*✍️Rovambira@V4ED* They built without mortar, yet their walls still stand. They mastered agriculture, mining, engineering and long-distance trade. Centuries later, their legacy presents us with a question: What will our generation build?
That was the powerful message emerging from today’s INSTAK Munhumutapa Public Lecture, held under the theme “Why Munhumutapa Matters.”
Addressing students of politics, academics and members of the public, ZANU PF Politburo Deputy Secretary for Security Cde Tendai Chirau challenged the audience to look at Munhumutapa history not simply as a chapter from the past, but as a source of inspiration for the future.
The civilisation from which the Mutapa State emerged demonstrated remarkable capabilities in agriculture, mining, engineering and commerce, developing extensive networks that connected communities and markets across long distances.
For Cde Chirau, that heritage remains relevant to Zimbabwe’s contemporary development ambitions.
He connected the entrepreneurial and trading traditions of the Mutapa era with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s “Zimbabwe is Open for Business” philosophy—drawing a line between an enterprising past and a modern Zimbabwe seeking to expand investment, production and economic opportunities.
Cde Chirau also addressed an important point surrounding the Munhumutapa symbolism associated with President Mnangagwa.
He emphasised that President Mnangagwa did not declare himself Munhumutapa. Rather, he said, it was people who identified qualities in his leadership that they associated with the historical institution and legacy of Munhumutapa.
But perhaps the most compelling part of the lecture was the challenge directed at the generation of today.
The task is not merely to admire what our ancestors achieved.
It is to study it. Improve it. Build upon it. And ultimately surpass it.
If generations before us could engineer remarkable structures, develop mining systems, cultivate productive agriculture and sustain long-distance trade with the technology available to them, then today’s generation—with access to modern science, digital technology, advanced engineering and global markets—has an even greater responsibility.
The lesson is therefore not to live in the shadow of the past.
It is to stand on its shoulders.
_“If my ancestors managed to achieve this, then I too can achieve it — and perhaps even surpass it.”_
That is the spirit of Munhumutapa that the next generation can carry forward—not simply as heritage, but as a call to innovation, enterprise, scholarship and nation-building.
Know where you come from. Understand what they built. Then build what comes next.
The walls of history are still standing. The question now is: what will our generation leave standing for those who come after us? *MASH CENTRAL VARAKASHI4EDinfoDesk*

https://t.co/Tiv4gVExzj DARWIN SOUTH ROARS IN GRATITUDE: HON. MUPAMHANGA TAKES THANK-YOU RALLY TO THE PEOPLE*
Yesterday was a day of gratitude, celebration and community spirit in Mt Darwin South, as constituents gathered at Mt Darwin Secondary School for a successful Thank-You Rally and Sports Tournament hosted by their legislator, *Hon. Kudakwashe Mupamhanga,* MP.
Hon. Mupamhanga is the elected Member of Parliament for Mt Darwin South and also serves as Deputy Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training.
*MT DARWIN SOUTH: A DAY OF GRATITUDE, SPORT AND COMMUNITY*
The grounds of Mt Darwin Secondary School were transformed into a hive of activity as residents from the urban communities of Mt Darwin South converged to meet their legislator in a gathering characterised by gratitude, music, dance, sport and fellowship.
The occasion provided Hon. Mupamhanga with an opportunity to return to the people and express his appreciation to the constituents for the confidence they placed in him, *President Dr Emmerson D. Mnangagwa* and the local councillors.
In a powerful demonstration of humility, the legislator sat among the people on the ground, clapping and celebrating with them. His message was clear: the people's vote must never be taken for granted.
For a public representative, the constituency is not a place to visit only during elections. It is the very foundation of the mandate to serve. Going back to the people, listening to them, celebrating with them and accounting for the responsibility entrusted to elected representatives is an important part of maintaining that connection.
*SPORT BRINGS THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER*
The sporting component added another dimension to the celebrations, with soccer and netball teams from Matope A and B, Mukaradzi, and Urban A and B battling for places in the finals.
The finals are scheduled for the first week of December, when the winning teams will compete for substantial prizes, including sports kits, footballs and prize money.
The prize structure will see winners receiving US$1,000, runners-up US$500, while third-placed teams will receive US$200, providing young people with both recognition and tangible support for their sporting development.
Beyond competition, the tournament demonstrates how sport can serve as a platform for youth engagement, community cohesion, talent identification and positive recreation.
*BACK TO THE PEOPLE*
The Mt Darwin South gathering carries a simple but important message: leadership must remain connected to the people who give it its mandate.
A legislator's work does not end after an election. The relationship between elected representatives and constituents is sustained through engagement, listening, service and accountability.
As the teams prepare for the December finals, the spirit of the tournament goes beyond the scoreline. It is about bringing communities together, giving young people a platform and strengthening the bond between the people of Mt Darwin South and their elected representatives.
**From the ballot box back to the people — that is where the mandate begins, and that is where service must continually return.**

*🇿🇼MT DARWIN SOUTH THANK-YOU RALLY: WHEN SPORT UNEARTHED A NATIONAL TREASURE*
*✍️Rovambira@V4EDmedia* What was planned as a Thank-You Rally and sporting day in Mt Darwin South, featuring soccer, volleyball and netball, became a powerful celebration of talent, opportunity and the potential of the rural girl child.
In the spirit of “leaving no one and no place behind,” Mt Darwin South’s sporting gathering provided a platform for Kelly Harineki, a Form Four student at Mt Darwin High School and an award-winning gymnast, to showcase her remarkable talent.
Kelly captivated the gathering with her gymnastics display, reminding everyone that talent knows no geographical boundaries. From the rural communities of Mt Darwin South, dreams can reach the biggest stages in the world.
Speaking after her performance, Kelly expressed her gratitude to those who have supported her journey.
_“I would like to thank the Ministry of Education for supporting young people and giving us opportunities to develop our talents.”_
She also acknowledged her Member of Parliament, Hon. Kudakwashe Mupamhanga, and the Ward Councillor for the support they have provided to young people in the constituency.
_“I also want to thank Hon. Kudakwashe Mupamhanga, my Member of Parliament, and our Ward Councillor for supporting us and believing in our talents.”_
But behind Kelly’s performance is an even bigger dream — the Olympic Games.
_“My dream is to reach the Olympics. I want to continue working hard, improve my gymnastics and represent Zimbabwe on the world stage.”_
Her story speaks directly to the importance of creating opportunities for young people, particularly girls in rural communities.
The message from Mt Darwin South is clear: when opportunity meets talent, the sky is not the limit — it is only the beginning.
With continued investment in sport, education and youth empowerment, girls like Kelly can be given the platforms, facilities and support needed to transform their dreams into reality.
Our rural girl child has talent. Our rural girl child has dreams. Our rural girl child deserves opportunity.
And for Mt Darwin South’s treasure Kelly, the journey continues.
_“I will keep working hard. I believe I can reach the Olympics.”_

A Historic Political Reunion: The Liberation Family Comes Together
A significant chapter in Zimbabwe’s political history is drawing to a close.
Cde Rev. Paul Gondani Vutuzah, one of the remaining ZANU Ndonga leaders who had stayed outside ZANU PF, has formally joined the revolutionary party. He was received by ZANU PF National Political Commissar Cde Munyaradzi Machacha, with Cde Blessing Chebundo, Coordinator of the Dzokai Kumusha/Buyani Ekhaya Programme in the ZANU PF Commissariat Department, facilitating the engagement.
The development carries deep historical significance.
In February 2015, under Cde Wilson Khumbula, ZANU Ndonga resolved to reunite with ZANU PF. In February 2018, its executive reaffirmed the dissolution of the party and its incorporation into ZANU PF. Cde Khumbula subsequently served on the ZANU PF Central Committee.
Cde Rev. Vutuzah and others, however, remained outside — “standing on the fence,” as he put it.
Cde Machacha placed the reunion within its broader historical context, noting that ZANU PF and ZANU Ndonga emerged from the same liberation struggle, sharing a common revolutionary mission and ideological heritage. Their separation after independence was therefore largely driven by leadership and personality differences rather than fundamental ideological contradictions.
That history makes today’s development particularly significant.
This is more than one politician crossing a political line. It represents the continuing reunification of political forces born from the same liberation tradition but separated by decades of history.
And Cde Rev. Vutuzah’s message to those still outside was unmistakable:
“Don’t be left behind.”
The significance of this reunion goes beyond political numbers. It strengthens unity, closes old divisions and creates greater space for collective focus on development, empowerment and nation-building.
More than half a century after those political paths diverged, they are steadily converging once again.
The circle is closing. The liberation family is being reunited.

*From discovery to opportunity*
The story of Mukuyu is ultimately about what Zimbabwe can do with its natural resources.
A discovery alone does not automatically translate into prosperity. The real measure will be how successfully exploration moves towards commercial production and how the resulting economic activity benefits communities, workers, entrepreneurs and the wider national economy.
That is why the next generation has a critical role to play.
Young people in Mashonaland Central should see the emerging energy sector not simply as a source of employment, but as a platform for skills development, entrepreneurship, innovation and local enterprise.
The development of the Cabora Bassa Basin also comes at a time when Zimbabwe is seeking to strengthen domestic energy capacity and attract investment into productive sectors of the economy. The Government's agreement with Invictus represents an important step in creating the framework for the next stage of the project.
_*Munhumutapa Day and the road ahead*_
As Mashonaland Central welcomes Zimbabweans to Mvurwi on 15 September, Munhumutapa Day can therefore be viewed as both a celebration of Zimbabwe's historical heritage and an opportunity to reflect on the country's future.
The occasion brings together heritage, leadership, youth participation and development under one national conversation.
For the young people of Mashonaland Central, the message is one of responsibility: to acquire skills, embrace productive enterprise, support development and ensure that the opportunities emerging in their province become sustainable opportunities for generations to come.
As Hon. Emmerson Raradza has put it in his recent youth empowerment messaging:
_“No youth will be left behind and no opportunity will be left untapped.”_
That spirit captures the significance of Munhumutapa Day: honouring the past, recognising the present and preparing Zimbabwe's young people to build the future.

MUNHUMUTAPA DAY: HONOURING LEADERSHIP, HERITAGE AND A NEW CHAPTER OF DEVELOPMENT IN MASHONALAND CENTRAL🇿🇼
As Mashonaland Central prepares to host the 2026 Munhumutapa Day celebrations in Mvurwi on 15 September, the province is preparing to showcase its rich heritage while reflecting on developments taking place across the region and the opportunities they present for Zimbabwe's future.
Munhumutapa Day provides an opportunity to honour *His Excellency President Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa* and reflect on the development agenda being pursued by the Second Republic, particularly the emphasis on economic empowerment, investment, infrastructure development and the participation of young Zimbabweans in the national economy.
For Mashonaland Central, one of the most significant developments attracting national attention is the Mukuyu oil and gas project in the Cabora Bassa Basin, in the Muzarabani area, being advanced by Australian-listed Invictus Energy through its local subsidiary, Geo Associates.
*Mukuyu: A strategic opportunity for Zimbabwe*
Invictus Energy announced gas-condensate discoveries at Mukuyu following its drilling programme, with the company reporting multiple gas-bearing reservoirs. The project has subsequently moved into a new phase following the signing of a Petroleum Production Sharing Agreement (PPSA) between the Government of Zimbabwe and Invictus Energy's subsidiary, Geo Associates, providing a framework for further exploration, appraisal, development, production and commercialisation.
*The significance of Mukuyu extends beyond Mashonaland Central.*
If the resources are successfully developed commercially, domestic oil and gas production could contribute to Zimbabwe's energy security, industrial development, investment attraction and employment creation. The project also has the potential to stimulate supporting businesses in transportation, construction, engineering, logistics, hospitality, agriculture and other services.
The development is therefore particularly important to Zimbabwe's young people. A growing energy industry can create opportunities not only through direct employment but also through entrepreneurship and the development of local suppliers and technical skills.
Invictus has reported that Zimbabweans already make up a large majority of its workforce, while its exploration activities have created employment opportunities in communities around the project area.
*Putting young people at the centre*
For Mashonaland Central Youth Chairman Hon. Emmerson Raradza, the development agenda must translate into opportunities that young people can participate in and sustain.
Speaking previously about development in Mashonaland Central, Raradza highlighted the importance of the province's development projects and the role of young people in supporting the national vision.
He has also stressed the importance of young people becoming economically productive, saying:
_“We must move from being beneficiaries to being producers.”_
That message is particularly relevant as Zimbabwe's energy sector develops. The emergence of oil and gas activities in Muzarabani creates an incentive for young people to pursue skills in areas such as engineering, geology, environmental management, ICT, transport, construction, business and technical services.
Raradza has also urged young people to resist drugs and substance abuse and concentrate on building sustainable livelihoods:
_“Let us resist drugs and substance abuse and focus on developing ourselves. We must work hard, create wealth and
sustainable livelihoods so that we can take care of our families and contribute to the development of our communities.”_
