Trump just lost again at the Supreme Court.

In a 6–3 ruling, the Supreme Court of the United States blocked Donald Trump from federalizing the Illinois National Guard to support immigration enforcement in Chicago.

Trump tried to override J. B. Pritzker, seize control of roughly 300 Guard members, and use them to back ICE operations. Illinois said no. Trump tried anyway. The Court said absolutely not.

Crucially, this wasn’t just liberals pumping the brakes. Chief Justice Roberts and Justices Kavanaugh and Barrett joined the majority, rejecting Trump’s claim that federal law gave him a blank check to militarize immigration enforcement without invoking the Insurrection Act.

The Court held that the statute Trump relied on only applies when the president cannot execute the law using the regular U.S. military, not civilian agencies like ICE. Trump never met that threshold. He never even came close.

Bottom line:

* Trump overreached
* States kept control of their Guard
* A power grab got smacked down
* And even a conservative Court wasn’t buying the bullshit

This is one of Trump’s most significant Supreme Court losses of his second term and a clear reminder that yelling “national security” does not magically erase the law.
