1/ India's own airship just touched the stratosphere π
DRDO's High-Altitude Platform climbed to 21 km, held 20 km for 30+ minutes, and came back intact.
That is about twice as high as airliners fly, and far above all weather.
Why it matters π§΅
3/ Why 20 km?
Weather stays in the troposphere, below about 12 km. The stratosphere above is calm and dry, so an airship can hold position over one area.
A low-orbit satellite passes over in minutes. A geostationary one sits about 36,000 km away.
