@JohnBowers123 @greendragonhq I think you missed the point. The people in the greyed out states aren't all on welfare, it's the states themselves that are running on welfare. As in all of them can't make enough tax revenue to balance their own books, so the wealthier states that are coloured in fund them.

Canada should provide a way to help those who want out in that scenario to move elsewhere at no or minimal cost, but it should be a short 5 years window, then lost.

@UziCryptoo And that's the mistake everyone who criticizes "tax the rich" makes. The real rich don't take income, or if they do it's very minimal. They get rich from holding wealth like land, stock and other kinds of ownership. That's what needs to be taxed.
