Ilhan Omar’s father should NEVER have been allowed to enter the United States.
He was a war criminal.
Any policy allowing people like him to enter the USA after committing large-scale atrocities must be repealed immediately.
Never forget: Ilhan Omar’s family didn’t flee Somalia as the oppressed. They fled because her father, Nur Omar Mohamed, was a senior colonel in the Somali National Army of the genocidal communist dictator Mohamed Siad Barre, the regime that systematically slaughtered up to 200,000 people, mostly Isaaq civilians, in one of the worst genocides in modern African history.
Her father wasn’t some low-level nobody or a teacher who just happened to be around. He was an esteemed senior officer who commanded a regiment, trained in the Soviet Union, and stayed in the military hierarchy of that brutal Marxist-Leninist dictatorship for years.
When the regime finally collapsed under the weight of its own mass murder, famine, and civil war in 1991, the family ran, not as victims of the dictatorship, but as people tied to the apparatus that had just spent years bombing cities, executing civilians, and turning northern Somalia into a killing field.
Now this same family is in the US, where Omar stands up and lectures Americans about justice, accountability, morality, and “genocide.” The hypocrisy is sickening. A daughter of a colonel from the regime that carried out the Isaaq genocide has the gall to moralize to the country that took her in after her father’s side lost power.
Her father came to the U.S. as a “refugee,” just like Yusuf Abdi Ali, who was accused of war crimes and later found liable for torture in a U.S. civil court. Yet, as far as publicly available information shows, her father never faced comparable scrutiny or accountability. Consider this: Ali was deported from the US only two years ago, after a survivor pursued justice through the courts. It took a survivor’s determination to bring his abuses before a judge and jury.
That’s the record.
HELLO, FAQASH.. Failed SOMALIA 🇸🇴
For 66 years, you were obsessed with convincing the world that the State of Repubpic Somaliland didn’t exist.
You told us we were invisible. That nobody knew who we were. That nobody would ever re-recognise us or tell us apart from you.
You comitted genocide against us..
You mocked our history, our suffering, our displacement, and everything we worked to rebuild.
But your obsession was never just about denying our existence.
You wanted to erase the difference between us.
You wanted our history to become yours. Our identity to become yours. Our achievements to be credited to you. And your failures to be blamed on us.
You spent decades lying to the world and falsely shouting that we were one people, one country, one identity.
Yet you couldn’t stand the thought of us being re-recognised as something separate from you.
We have our own history, genetics, traditions, political experience, and distinct cultural identities.
Even the names by which our communities identify themselves carry different histories.
You wanted to claim everything that made us who we are while denying us the right to define ourselves.
You insisted the world would never know the difference.
And after spending decades trying to make Somaliland disappear, you’ve only made the distinction between us more visible.
You spent 66 years telling us nobody would ever know who we were.
So tell us, FAQASH. How does it feel now?
U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks underscore Somaliland’s distinct identity and its separate political reality.
The Republic of Somaliland remains steadfast in its pursuit of international recognition through principled diplomacy and constructive international engagement.
Trump:
I call it Somalia land, not Somaliland, because actually it's a totally different country. Some people like Somaliland that has nothing to do. You know that has nothing to do. I said, you got to be kidding. I think they should change the name immediately.
