He confidently strode towards the lab, reinvigorated by the water. That was, until they were almost there. Slowly but surely, he began to slow down again.
"So... About that water."
"Assistant my aโ I AM NOT!"
Kurisu snapped, with a stomp of the foot. Red in the face with one too many nicknames to account for in succession. God, why was he soโ!
Spotting the abandoned water bottle through the corner of her eye before she went and angrily snatched it up โ
He suddenly rose from his seat, seemingly being energized by her provocations.
"Hououin Kyouma is anything but 'pathetic'. I'd ask if you even know who you were talking to, but you /are/ my assistant."
A wicked smirk.
"I'll accept your tsundere tendencies, @-channeler."

The woman scoffed
"Don't flatter yourself."
Trying to think of an excuse as she turned away. Feigning disinterest.
"I just happened to be in the area where a pathetic lanky looking man wearing some ridiculous lab coat in this 90ยฐ degree weather crossed my sights. That's all."
After he was done hydrating, he realized just how thirsty he really was.
"The organization is on my trail, Christina. I have to stay on moving."
Sure. That's why he was sluggishly walking around.
"What about you? Were you following me? Mmm? Your obsession is palpable."
"Maybe I should've so you'd die of thirst faster."
Looking the other way all 'hmph'. Crossing her arms.
"At least sit in a more ventilated area. The air quality out here is about as poor as your manners."
Side-eying him.
"...Why are you out here in this heat anyway?"
His rather neutral expression shifted to one of annoying confidence. One she was oh-so familiar with.
"Assistant. Isn't it your job to know my dietary restrictions? You could've brought me my favorite beverage."
Despite his complaints, he grabbed the water. He appreciated it.
The only thing he was missing was a means of hydrating a certain ๐๐จ๐จ๐๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ฃ๐ฉ happened to be nearby. Stopping just before him with an extra bottle of water on hand.
"...Better grab it before I change my mind."
She seemed more annoyed he came out here without it though.
@BoltMixologist He'll have you know that he's a very serious man. Not some 'funny' scientist, nor 'little'!
But he's currently writing a report, definitely not for school, though. It's, uh... something super serious.
"Your secrets, merely a drink or two away?"
Okabe would grin and nod like this was definitely the plan.
"Come, now. Stealth Feline. Let us commence."
What a nickname...

She didn't know exactly what to make of that; he was certainly a character to. But at least to the nekomimi, he seemed harmless.
โ My my! It sounds like someone lives an interesting life! โ
The silver-haired woman would comment, that ever present unfazed smile ยป
ใ ค
God, without context that sounded horrible. But it seemed awful important to the guy.
"What say you we stop standing here and have a drink together? Being out here could compromise my mission."
Okay, fine. His legs just hurt.
"A utopia for one of my kind!! If only I could see it."
He let out a deep sigh.
"Alas, I have my mission. I could not so easily wander into the sunset. What would my hostage do? That girl must stay by my side."

Her eyes widened, excitement brushing onto her face!
โ Ooh! So you're that kind of scientist! โ
She exclaimed happily!
โ You would've fit right in at my hometown! Dolos was full of inventors! Ha! There were new gizmos every day it became a public safety risk! โ

He pulled back slowly, his fingers letting go. Weird. He doesn't remember anything *this* lifelike at May Queen either.
"But I am no weak man! I am HOU-"
Right when he's about to try and yell his name, he starts coughing. Damn it, dry throat.
He will let the comment on his name slide only because her ears are, indeed, very soft.
"If I were a weaker man, I would no doubt fall into madness trying to touch these ears more often."
+
"Right, I'm supposed to call you Kyouma when you laugh like that, aren't I?"
Otama bashfully lowers her head, lip pinched between her teeth. The moment his hand makes contact, she stifles a quiet yip.
It's astoundingly lifelike . . . including the twitching in response.
