For systems integrators and robot users, Mitsubishi Electric has partnered with HAL Robotics to extend the rollout of operator-controlled industrial robots capable of executing variable, complex and uncommon tasks and applications. More here 👉 https://t.co/w39aM0yBao

This week Matthew is joined by Sebastian Andraos, CEO & Founder, @HALrobotics.
Sebastian comes from an architectural background before moving into the world of robotics in 2013.

Software always has to run on hardware. These tiny @Lenovo#ThinkEdge gateways pack just the right power to run any cell, offloading heavier compute to edge or cloud servers. They also have GPIO add-on boxes to integrate with sensors and tooling.

Pick and place or machine tending are critical in any production process. Don't let easy to automate tasks like these become bottlenecks. Complex stacking or nesting patterns are our speciality.

See the red in the corner of the scanned part? That's our software highlighting potential issues in the robot's program before it ever runs, keeping everything safe and ensuring errors are caught before they're problems.

Got unknown or frequently changing parts coming through your production? We use sensor data to make robots adapt to geometric or location changes.

P.S. No extraction at HQ, hence the polisher

3D data serves an important purpose in identifying parts in robot's workspace, for defect detection or parametric geometry creation. We've got a selection of scanners at various price points and have had good results with @global_mechmind scanners for recent projects. #3dscan
Deployable structures mean they can be transported compact and expanded on site, saving on both transport costs and carbon emissions. This robot uses force sensing through its joints to always follow the path of least resistance and deploy the shell. #robots#sensors#structures
Sneak peek: Sensor simulation in the HAL Robotics Framework. We can already integrate sensors into our programs but accurately simulating data is a nuanced challenge. Is this something you would want to see? If so, which sensors would you need? #robots#sensors#simulation
Yet another cocktail making robot we've helped program. This one is a dual-armed collaborative robot for the Founder's Forum, working directly alongside bar staff putting on the finishing touches to the robo-cocktails.

The tool change system is key to re-task our robot, often more than daily. The one we have installed permanently is by Grip and is purely mechanical, no electrics or pneumatics needed. That makes it ideal for autonomous and manual changes

Komut Studio use additive manufacturing to turn recycled plastics or bio-materials into durable furniture which can then, itself, be re-ground to make new furniture. We're very proud to enable this circular manufacturing. Check out their collections at https://t.co/V4wPB0oBYt

One of the challenges of multi-robot systems is swapping between synchronous and asynchronous motion. The HAL Robotics Framework makes it really easy to program systems like that. Just mark the motions as sychnronised and we handle the rest.

Our software has been designed to run anywhere, from the cloud to the edge, from embedded in CAD software or in embedded systems. In this experiment we had it running on a @Raspberry_Pi logging weld data from an ABB robot.

Central to our testing cell is, of course, the robot. We have an @ABBRobotics IRB 1200 with a great payload, reach and speed combo for us. It also has an excellent comms stack, often overlooked, which allows us to remotely upload code, run and monitor the robot.
This seems to speak to lots of people:
Cocktail making robot by @makrshakr complete with flaring by @HALrobotics incl. throwing and catching of a cocktail. All 100% practical, programmed remotely during the pandemic.

Programming multi-axis systems, particularly those with positioners can be can be a complicated affair. In our Framework you can skip that complexity and just set goals for external axes. In this #3dprint demo, the turntable is set to aim the print head down after the first layer
