Leaving a trafficker is only step one. Without safe housing, trauma informed care, and real economic
options, survivors often end up vulnerable again. Michigan has serious gaps in housing and
prevention education. We are working on both sides: recovery and prevention.
Michigan in 2024:
• 779 trafficking related contacts
• 254 confirmed cases
• 506 victims identified
• 3,307 cases and 6,909 victims since 2007
Every zip code in Michigan is affected. Survivor housing and long term care are essential.

What trafficking really looks like:
• Someone the victim knows
• Manipulation and control
• Online recruitment
• Hidden in homes, schools, and workplaces
• Targets vulnerability
This is the reality Hope meets every day in Michigan.

Forced labor profits are estimated at $236 billion dollars a year, up 37% from 2014.
Every investment in survivor housing, therapy, and job skills is a direct push against an economy that treats
people as disposable.

50 million people are living in modern slavery worldwide. Around 28 million in forced labor and
22 million in forced marriage. Trafficking is present in every region, including high income countries.
