A vast majority of children who are the victim of homophobic bullying, wont tell their parents what is happening in fear of being rejected because of their sexual orientation. Therefore, schools need to create a safe environment where children can talk in confidence.
The Stonewall Teachers’ Report 2014 also found - ‘More than two in five secondary school teachers (43 percent) and three in ten primary school teachers have heard homophobic language or negative remarks about gay people from other school staff’.

Young people and children are not just subjected to homophobic bullying because of their perceived or actual sexuality, but also their family type or relatives sexuality. The teaching of diverse family types to our children could help us avoid such staggering statistics.
