#In_Pictures: #Axum_Massacre 4th year commemoration
Residents of #Axum city in the #Tigray region gathered on Thursday for a somber remembrance of the Axum Massacre, four years after the tragic events in late November 2020. Families and survivors gather to honor the memory of hundreds of civilians who were executed by #Eritrean forces during the first month of the two-years brutal war in Tigray regional state.
Human Rights Watch (HRW), Amnesty International (AI) and the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC), among others, have all released reports on the massacre, shedding light on the level of atrocities committed in three successive days. The investigations revealed that Eritrean forces systematically killed hundreds of civilians in the city of Axum. The reports also documented widespread human rights abuses, including door-to-door executions in a deliberate targeting of unarmed residents.
Through moments of grief, prayer, and silent resilience held on Thursday, survivors and residents of the city called for justice, and expressed their hope for peace and healing.

A short documentary film reveals only a glimpse of the unfathomable atrocities committed by genocidal forces against our people. The international community and institutions have chosen to remain silent, turning a blind eye to the #TigrayGenocide.

Isn’t it shameful to talk about who holds power in a room full of genocide survivors? Genocide survivors who have paid a heavy price and keep paying the price?
Power is dangerous and they are weaponizing it against our people. ድርባያት
“It is comforting to learn that the military operation did not result in as severe consequences as it was originally feared to be ... the much hyped about bloodbath did not really happen to the extent it has been anticipated to be”
Dr. Daniel Bekele, Comm’r of @EthioHRC
A government that fails to protect its vulnerable people is a failed government.
A society is broken when it cannot protect its most vulnerable citizens from violence. Any society that hopes to move beyond crisis must first address the treatment and protection of women & girls.
This is not unexpected from people who committed #TigrayGenocide💔
#Ethiopia Four trucks carrying blue and white plastic disguised as fertiliser in #Tigray came from Ministry of Agriculture authorities, who had not been previously informed.

Abiy negotiates with Tigray but then turns around and uses Amhara PP to issue a contradictory press release.
When will Amhara elites wake up to such clear illustration and instigation of horizontal conflict????
