@carltonreid Not surprised, but still sad. Especially as I have seen a number of vehicles driving over the pavement to get around parked cars on residential streets in the last few months - even right in front of parents walking kids to school, with buggies, etc. Getting worse, not better!
Find out how @Hbudnitz|@TSUOxford is working with @OxfordshireCC & #carclubs to investigate the viability of electric car clubs around #oxfordshire

My new paper, The effect of front-end vehicle height on pedestrian death risk, was just published at #Economics of #Transportation. I use vehicle design measurements to test for the effect of taller vehicles on pedestrian outcomes in crashes. https://t.co/6ATRe3nDeb
Thanks @CiTTimagazine! Shout out to @parkandchargeox project partners @OxfordshireCC and @EZChargeLtd who have also been working hard to dispel myths as well as install infrastructure!
With less than 2 weeks to go before the winners of #CiTTiAwards 2023 are revealed, one of our star judges, @HBudnitz at @TSUOxford, has contributed a thought leadership article to @CiTTimagazine that debunks some of the myths around #ElectricVehicles. https://t.co/ha5PjdDZsV
Career update: I joined @TSUOxford last week as a Senior Researcher in Mobility Governance. I look forward to continuing my research on political geographies of informal transport, digitalisation, and electrification in this role.

Electric car clubs are being trialled at public charging hubs in towns and villages across Oxfordshire. @HBudnitz has won funding from the Public Policy Challenge Fund to see what answers these trials offer.

Autobesity, including in EVs, also uses far more scarce resources, from manufacturing through to energy use and public space. Modifying parking space for them won't help. https://t.co/htsCm2P7yQ
In fact, all of the substantive work exploring the effects of LTNs concludes that they do deliver the benefits they’re designed to, and don’t do any of things opponents accuse them of doing. Here is our final briefing summarising the evidence base: https://t.co/Dgt0DLHkUn
@luton_paul I'm sure they do. I was more thinking about the business model for the buggies. Are they being introduced in outer London, suburban areas too?
Half of car trips in London are under 3km, and nearly two thirds are made with no passengers. Obviously most of these could be walked or cycled with the right changes to our streets. But could hire buggies be a solution for a lot of the rest? A 🧵!

Pavement parking is dangerous and unacceptable.
Some of it can and should be enforced right now using tools already available to local authorities and the Police.
But we also urgently need national legislation to get on top of the problem.

@MorrisJonathan@DrSimEvans Not really. Evidence shows that when people give up a car and swap to ‘pay as you go’ car sharing or occasional hire or taxis, they are much more discerning about what they use a car for and use it less.
New @findingspress paper led by Anna Goodman, with me, @anthonylav & @jamiewfurlong on impact of 2020 Low Traffic Neighbourhoods on car/van driving among residents in Lambeth, London, finding 'residents started driving less once their area became an LTN.' https://t.co/bWg58qqZZw
Glad to see this. It is worth adding that the individuals and fleet managers who purchase / lease EVs for about 3 years help grow the second hand market, making EVs more affordable for the many who cannot afford a new car, no matter the engine type. https://t.co/aj4OkbZNKj
