What’s the point in volunteering?
Well, for Craig, a member of the Hull Tenants’ Forum, the point is to work with others to improve housing services in Hull. And, he says, it’s good for mental health, too.
This Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June) we’re putting the spotlight on the tenant and resident volunteers who share their insights, ideas and opinions with the Neighbourhoods & Housing team at Hull City Council.

As part of the “Member Spotlight” at today’s @tpasengland North East Regional Event, two volunteers have shared some of the work they have been carrying out within their communities and for the wider tenant population.
Sana, Chair of the Women’s Voice TARA, shared how the group started with 6 members, and they now have over 60 ladies attend their regular sessions. Sana also shared how the group have arranged several awareness sessions for their members, covering Domestic Abuse, Cardiovascular Disease, Cancer, and the High-Rise Building Safety Policy.
We then heard from Craig, Chair of the Multi Storey Living Group, who talked about how the group receives regular updates on Building Safety and Resident Engagement, how Block Champions carry out inspections on communal areas within high and low-rise flats, and how the group have been involved in the review of the Building Cleaning Service Level Agreement.
