As a distraction, Tommy has taken it upon himself to lift Shepherd's spirits. Tommy has signed the whole team up to join a bowling league, and on Thursdays we have pizza parties now.
Each day our heart breaks as Tommy's once glowing smile grows a bit sadder. German Shepherd is suffering from paralyzing depressive mood swings as he struggles with the heart break he's inflicting.
Tommy has added a giant box of tissues to his bag of game day essentials. We feel that no amount of flowers or fruit baskets can make up for the destruction we dealt out this past couple of weeks... but we will try to mend hearts with each heartfelt apology card.
Tommy is especially proud of German Shepherd as he faces the internal struggle of watching his own dreams come true at the cost of others. Shepherd has been thoughtful with his poetic responses and his calligraphy is a pure labor of love.
When German Shepherd told Tommy that he had big dreams of going to the NBA, Tommy was torn on how to feel. "Follow your heart! This is beautiful!" he said first, before a solemn look crept over his face. "Wait... does this mean... we have to break the spirits of others?"
German Shepherd nodded sadly, his expression downcast. Tommy sank into the corner and sat with this. After a few minutes, German Shepherd went over to him and laid a hand on his shoulder. "We can send cards afterwards," he said.
The uplifting news continued rolling in after the Bean development, but this time it was more bittersweet. Although we can't help but cry as we bid farewell to our beloved Jack in the Box, our hearts are filled with joy and excitement for him.
And so, even after a heartwrenching season, we choose to focus on the joyous things coming our way, instead of the painful moments in our past. A French vacation. Baked Beans the miracle child.
Yet out of all this, Tommy found the light and showed it to us. Desperate to find a kid of incredible heart after the portal closed, Tommy made a few calls. It is our absolute privilege to welcome the living miracle Baker Bean to the team.
We thought the potato farmer and his German Shepherd that has dwarfism were waiting to join our team... but alas, they were not. Another heartbreak befell us, this one hitting our own German Shepherd and his boy Max especially hard.
Things started looking up as we watched Mississippi State rumble to victory in the Crown. They filled our hearts after an incredibly draining season. However, this high only lasted so long, before we cast our line into the brackish transfer portal.
Another delicious season has come to an end, but the bittersweet flavors will linger for years to come. This year brought many emotional challenges to our door, as the gifted nephew of our beloved Lou Rivers slipped out of our grasp, causing mountains of anguish within the team.
