Ryan Gainer should be alive today.
On Saturday, March 9, 2024, Ryan Gainer, age 15, was shot and killed by officers from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The sheriff’s office reports that two deputies on the scene fired three rounds at Ryan, who was holding a gardening tool. Ryan’s family shared & video confirms that the sheriff’s department was slow to provide aid after shooting him, waiting about a minute before moving to help.
Ryan was active in the community, tutoring kids after school, helping with robotics programs, and community clean ups. Ryan wanted to run track for Oregon State University one day and wanted to be a mechanical engineer.
Ryan’s story is hauntingly similar to that of Eyad al-Halaq who was killed in 2020 by Israeli police as he walked to school in Jerusalem. Eyad had autism & had trouble communicating. An officer shot him when he failed to obey orders to stop. He loved school & was learning to cook
Thousands of police from a number of US cities have trained with Israeli forces in tactics of violence and control, directly linking systemic police brutality in the US to state violence in Israel. Policing disproportionately targets and harms Black disabled people.
We demand our local, state, and federal government end the deadly cooperation in state violence and discriminatory profiling that is killing Black, Indigenous and people of color here in the US.
Ryan Gainer should be alive today.
So Israel & the US are able to lift the siege to allow machinery in to build the American pier that’s supposed to bring humanitarian aid in - but they can’t lift it to bring in the actual humanitarian aid.
What does this say about the purpose & intention of the US pier?
🚑The Palestine Red Crescent ambulance teams received a phone call from Al-Atrash family, who were trapped under the rubble of their destroyed house after it was bombed in Deir al-Balah, central #Gaza. The PRCS coordinated and followed up with the civil defense teams until they were rescued.
🚨Our teams transported 6 martyrs and 9 injured individuals.

A complete coastal strip inhabited by more than 2.3 million people was destroyed by Israel in plain sight and with the support of the white Western world, which claims to be civilized.
Genocide by all means, Genocide by all definitions. #GazaGenocide
Shooting people in a hospital, or any act of violence in a healthcare facility is completely unacceptable, we unequivocally condemn the continued attacks on healthcare facilities in #Palestine.
Oxygen is an essential, life-saving treatment. The central oxygen station of Gaza’s largest hospital was destroyed back in November (ref: OCHA flash update #37) and remains non functional. Patients are still suffering the consequences of this illegal attack.
Update from the West Bank: On the night of March 13 the Israeli military conducted operations in Jenin.
According to medical personnel at the MSF-supported Khalil Suleiman Hospital, around 3 a.m., people standing in the hospital courtyard were fired on.
Six people were wounded by the emergency room door - two of whom died as a result of severe head and chest wounds.
"In the last months our team has witnessed bullets and tear gas grenades being fired at the facility, a minor being killed, ambulances being obstructed, and healthcare professionals being targeted.
Shooting people in a hospital, or any act of violence in a healthcare facility is completely unacceptable, we unequivocally condemn the continued attacks on healthcare facilities in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. All medical facilities, workers and patients must be protected." – Samuel Johann, MSF project coordinator in Jenin.
