Santa, Mrs. Claus & some of Santa’s elves made an appearance at Hoover at the end of the day today. Santa & Mrs. Claus got to see some students. Then they were off to professional development to join the elves in spreading some cheer by giving the staff some cookies & hot cocoa.
At PD today, staff threw paper plates around with staff names & wrote words of affirmation to their peers on them. We have such a great staff at Hoover & today they got to share with each other a few things about what makes each of them so special to Hoover 💚🐾. #Thankful
K-2 teachers are engaging in learning around work places and 3-5 teachers are discussing the importance of learning intentions and success criteria in differentiated literacy groups from our instructional coaches in professional development today. 💚🐾
Visiting K-2 classrooms to see math work places. Choice, teacher feedback, the use of math vocabulary, and collaboration between peers is helping our students become more fluent in math. 💚🐾
3rd graders collaborating on their close reading companion. Great conversations about how the author shows that two characters are different. Going back to the text to find text evidence helps these students find what the author did to help the reader. 💚🐾

2nd graders are learning about place value in two and three-digit numbers. We have been building them with tools, comparing them, and adding numbers together. Here students are using groups of 10 unifix cubes to measure "beans" and the perimeter of the gardens they grew in. 💚🐾
